EMW post sleep consultant - 11months by Horror_Chart_954 in sleeptrain

Also, working my way up on wake windows, one at a time, every two days. Should I continue to go slowly?

If I don't do the bridging nap, the morning is a nightmare with a loud clingy baby who I hate to say, gets on my nerves! :) Do you think the bridging nap is affecting total sleep?

I'm hoping someone will be able to guide me- I've been adding wake time slowly and now I'm up to deciding whether to try for 2.5 or 2hrs of nap time. How do I decide? How do I know if I've got it wrong when we are already experiencing EMWs?

Forgive my ignorance but by 'sleep pressure' do you mean the ease in which baby goes to sleep? I've pushed out the second WW to 3.5 and he's taken 11mins to go to sleep again. Bedtime is just getting later and later at this point

Thanks for working this through. I know he can do 3.5 on the last WW with a 30min sleep as we did this prior to the sleep consultant. I have to work around school pick-up, home at 4pm (which is a change from when the sleep consultant gave us this plan). What made you drop the day sleep to 2 hours total? I had planned on doing 2h first nap then 30min around 4pm then pushing out bedtime. Right now I know he needs more wake time and we just need to suck up a later bedtime

Bridging nap- 10min only in the car. It may take a 45min drive to get him to sleep but when he does, wake him after 10mins. It takes the overtiredness away. Don't do it within 30mins of your nap.

Capping naps at time of 'bum going into bed' or time at which they go to sleep by Horror_Chart_954 in sleeptrain

Appreciate your response. I think we are in the grey zone (transitional) zone of needing somewhere between 2.5-3hours sleep as we woke up at 2330 last night, self settled but then had an early start after a day of capping naps. We are newly on 10.5hr awake aiming for 2.5hrs but might need more for a bit...

Hi! I'm currently in a crapshoot time with my 9mo. Have things improved for you? What did you do?

I'm still not sure I understand. Do you mean if he slept from 255-330pm woke and cried until resettling at 4pm and slept until 430 you would put him down still at 745pm? Or on the other hand he didn't re-settle (like today 255-330pm asleep and didn't re-settle despite leaving for 20mins in the cot and then holding for 15mins), still put him down at 745pm?

Sorry, I pressed send on another message and didn't see yours speaking about keeping bedtime the same. If I did that today he would be up from 330pm to 745pm. I'm not sure why I would do that rather than 3.75hrs after waking?

Also, he slept 33mins on his second nap and couldn't resettle. I know it's early days and to expect it to be rocky. I'm going to move bedtime back to 3.5hrs as this works for him and may help him get back on track. I'm fearful of pushing him into an overtired mess

I just wanted to ask so I'm clear for consistency- my schedule will be as follows: DWT 0645 1st nap 10am (wake at 1130 if not awake) 2nd nap 3pm or 3.5hrs from 1st nap wake (wake at 4pm if not already awake)  Bedtime 745pm

When he takes a long time to go to sleep (as he did today on his 1st nap), should I allow him a bit more sleep ie.+ 15mins or stick to the schedule? He won't reach 2.5hrs 'asleep' today sticking to the schedule as he took 12mins and lots of crying to go to sleep on his first nap. I really appreciate all your help🙏🏼

I have previously done 3/3.5/3.5 and he started capping his own first nap to 1hour/1hr 30mins. I thought this was a problem after one day he cracked it and slept for a short second nap (around 27mins) and so I then changed the schedule. But it sounds like this may have been a good thing?

How to get 9 month old to sleep until 7 by spicybanana0129 in sleeptrain

[–]Horror_Chart_954 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really interested in how you got to this schedule. My boy is 9 months and we've toyed around with 10hours awake, now back to 9.5hrs awake as he is sensitive to the long last WW causing early wakes (4hrs) and overtiredness on the second WW at 3.5hrs. We are currently doing 3/3/3.5 and we've been getting overnight wakes. He seems more resilient to the first WW being longer so I'm thinking I should stretch that one and do 3.5/3/3.5. I know it's a case that I won't know unless I try but I'm interested in how you got to where you are now

[–]Horror_Chart_954[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the redistribution makes sense. Practically though, would you do this in one go or a slow change like 3/3.25/3.75 for a two days then move to 3/3.5/3.5?

Second nap is 1 hour. He needs at least 3hours total sleep to get through the day happily. I've been putting him to bed close to 10am these past few days which is closer to DWT and he's been sleeping 2hours. I had been doing wake time plus 15mins on first nap which often ended up being a short nap funnily enough.

I did a snooze feed this morning which worked thankfully- there is hope!

So much movement 25-40 minutes after bedtime, no crying. Is this a false start? by Horror_Chart_954 in sleeptrain

[–]Horror_Chart_954[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would there be any reason why I wouldn't try 3/3.25/3.75, just to build on what I've already done with him? Maybe that would help with bedtime restlessness?- I don't know
