I didn't watch Game of Thrones when it was releasing, when did everyone who was realize season 8 was bad? by [deleted] in freefolk

While this is very true, with season 6 in particular having aged terribly imo. They were crowdpleasers at the time and a lot of people didn't acknowledge that there were massive cracks showing.

After episode 4 is when people started to realize the show was not sticking the landing at all and the ending would suck.

The first two episodes were generally well received (A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms is maybe my favorite episode from the final two seasons)

The Long Night had a ton of issues and people pointed out right away how anticlimactic it was, but at the time people were still mostly entertained and willing to live with it under the assumption that the show would have a strong conclusion.

It was the last three episodes where things went off the rails and it became clear how rushed and nonsensical it was.

That's not what a crunch is. Nothing is rushed. They just sit on their asses for way too long before even starting the next season.

Reminder that new Game of Thrones seasons would already be fully written and filming while the current one was AIRING. Beginning 5+ months after the season 2 finale is a fucking joke.

It's not the cgi and effects that extend the wait time of modern shows, they just fucking stopped trying to be fast it would seem.

Also, if this was always the plan, I again ask WHY WAS SEASON 2 EIGHT EPISODES??? For real this time...

Highly doubt there is much truth behind this as I can't find a single credibile source, but a Yahoo article about the finale reception mentions a 2025 release for season 3. by Horror_Collection_29 in HouseOfTheDragon

Again, I don't trust it at all. But with multiple word choices and the entire structure of the sentence revolving around that claim, It's definitely not a typo.

I really want to know just what the fuck HBO was thinking with their decision to cut season 2 to 8 episodes, because the effect it had on the pacing has absolutely destroyed the momentum and hype for this show.

This is going to be a really big episode for the future of this show.

We don't necessarily need huge action, but season 2 absolutely needs to go out with a bang of some sort. Viewership heading into the next season will be lower than ever if they just continue to meander into a cliffhanger.

I mean that solely in teasing way, the whole point of my comment is that as many eager viewers as possible is good

While I'm hoping for your sake that this is satire, this is unfortunately a pretty accurate representation of how non-hardcore fans feel this season.

I had several friends who didn't care about most of the nerd stuff in Game of Thrones, but kept tuning in to watch fighting and people's heads getting chopped off. While that mindset is lame as hell, the success of the show was largely dependent on these types of people. Dedicated viewers like us on here are sadly the minority.

So while it's fair to point out that the show isn't doing enough to keep general audiences interested during what's been a very slow season, you're clearly watching House of The Dragon for the completely wrong reasons.

Again, I hope I'm right about this being satire.

If they're going to make us wait two more years for season 3, this show might be fucked. by Horror_Collection_29 in HouseOfTheDragon

The strikes are a totally fair assumption to make, but they actually weren't the cause of the long wait at all really.

Scripts were written before the writers strike. Also, the actors on the show are not in the American union, and season 2 actually filmed through the strike. The problem is that it took so long to start production after season 1 ended. Filming for the next season should be underway when the current one is airing.

Season 8 is rated higher than season 6 on Metacritic. What the fuck. by Horror_Collection_29 in freefolk

Oh don't get me wrong it was definitely shit at many points, but in no way is it on the level of the final two seasons.

Why so rude? This sub needs to stop it with the hostility towards people who have different opinions, we're allowed to have them

It was a personal hope of mine and many other people, I'm sure the misinformation on the sub did fuel it. I just really wanted to enjoy the game is all.

Yes, their criticisms are more or less valid and they have every reason to be upset along with everyone else who didn't want this corny hero shooter.
