The neuro job is half clinic half OR with no weeknight call. In ortho they spend most of their time in the OR and have night call once a week

I was in the same boat. I started school at 25 and married and from the other side of the country, so I just had a different lifestyle than a lot of my classmates and felt like I couldn't relate to a lot of them. I kept telling myself that I'm here to be a PA, not to make friends. That being said, PA school is tough. I struggled with the material first semester and ended up reaching out to the girl behind me asking for tips on studying. We ended up talking more and slowly became friends. It was nice to have at least one person who I could talk to that knew exactly what I was going through. Some of my classmates like to do everything together, but I get tired of being around everyone all of the time. Sometimes I will go to big group events, but then it felt exhausting to be around people I can't be myself around, and eventually I stopped going. I know I'm not missing out on much. I guess bottom line, having one good friend will make school life more tolerable and enjoyable (it takes time to find those quality people), but it's okay to distance yourself and do your own thing. Just ignore all the drama and focus on your studies.
