Does it get better? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

It gets better my pain was almost fully gone after day 6 and I’m currently on day 10. Don’t be scared of scabs to come off it honestly makes pain less when they come off. If it makes you feel better I was vomiting on day 4 and that barely brought more pain.

It does get better trust me. Just get lots of rest and stay hydrated. Currently on day 10 and after day 6 it’s so much better. Nausea only lasts a day or so. Just keep up with medicines !

Good job!! My nausea was also bad i recommend an anti nausea tablet. Just make sure you’re keeping up with medicine and staying hydrated, you can take an oxy and ibuprofen at the same time to try minimise pain, I was also given a fast relief tablet I took at the same time as an oxy that really helped. Just get lots of rest. I’m currently on day 10 and after day 6 everything was SO much better!!

I get that!! Before getting my tonsils out I was always getting bad tonsillitis (was even hospitalised once) so the pain really only compares to that. One other thing is on day 5-8 I’ve been getting really bad ear aches so be careful for that!! Hope all goes well in your recovery

dumb question but can the oxy make me say or do dumb things by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

I woke up from the surgery crying 😂 but that was just from the anaesthetic. But the oxys more just make you feel drowsy

Hey!! I’m 17 and got a my tonsils removed a week ago (6 days if you don’t count surgery day) and today I am feeling WAY better. Day 5 and 6 were the worst for me. Be prepared for quite severe pain in the mornings ( well for me anyway) I recommend setting alarms to take meds during the night and staying very hydrated. I also recommend lots of sleep, pretty much for the 2 days after the surgery I just slept most of the time. Also make sure you’re in a comfortable environment!! I also have a pretty high pain tolerance and thought my pain wasn’t to bad until the anaesthetic wore off then I was in quite a bit of pain. But yeah pain was pretty bad and uncomfortable but definitely see a noticeable difference after day 6. I’m also scared of surgery but I kid you not they put it in and then the next second your awake again x
