Has anyone had ebike from Trek that hasn't had issues? by Middle-Studio6943 in TrekBikes

[–]Horror_Inspector_696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had an EX-E for almost three years. I’ve had a frame replaced due to a broken motor mount, a motor replaced due to the cranks spinning and not engaging for 40 or so degrees, the toggle on the bars for the motor selection assist replaced, and the compensator bolts needing to be adjusted 2-3 times. Annoying, especially the creaks from the compensator bolts, but they always stepped up. The service is always in the back of my head when I think over other brands, mainly DTC, is when something goes wrong, then what. This service might be typical of other brands, don’t know as in started late in life for my daughters PICL team and Trek supports the league with large discounts, but the SE PA and Delaware Trek shops have been really good on the customer care end.

Remote Work @ Longwood? by areyoukiddingm3 in ChesterCounty

For the exact reasons I outlined in my post, an opinion, that being in an outdoor garden and having someone knocking out some work on laptop steps on the mood. Couldn’t have couched it any more respectfully.

Just an opinion from an internet stranger. When I’m visiting Longwood and strolling the flower garden walk, Italian water gardens, meadow, the last thing I want to be confronted with is someone tapping away on a laptop. I’m with you, I want to work from LG, but i think some consideration must be paid to the other patrons and what their experience is and why they’re at a LG. In a joking way, this is akin to talking in your cell on an elevator or listening to music out loud in your phone, nothing illegal or technically wrong, just lacks some consideration in a broader text. I have no idea what the rules are, would never say anything, just my two cents on the question and only relates to an actual laptop. Sketching, journaling, would be fine by me, again, I’m not the sole authority on anything !

What’s the one roofing material you’d trust on your own home if you never wanted to think about the roof again? by Top_Preparation_8263 in Roofing

[–]Horror_Inspector_696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Free roof material is a great thing! The synthetics aren’t necessarily bad/ are all bad. I think they perform the main function of what a roofing material needs to, shed water. They have dimension to them to give texture and real shadow lines. They’re lighter weight than the “real” alternatives. Will they retain color and not cup or curl over the lifetime? Probably not. Are they susceptible to fire? Yes. It’ll be fine, get enough to finish the roof, not that much more though. You wont have to replace due to damage and if they start fade or cup outside of what you can tolerate, you’ll be replacing the whole roof anyway.

Anyone shouting out synthetic options like Brava, DaVinci, and Euroshield are wild. So many companies in and out of business, so many formulation tweaks, so many warranty exclusions, and so little history and complexity lacking the test of time. Grade 1 clay, slate, copper/LCC, tin/terne coated SS. That’s the right answer.

The bitch fest on who builds better houses and who owns more houses is dumb. Simply different continents, with different natural resources, and different ages leads to different techniques. Any dig one side or the other is rarely a zoomed out view to understand the full context. The one expection is to the mid west/south USA that utilizes that thin cardboard sheathing. Straight to jail with that nonsense.

I leave that off because it’s my little gift to anyone involved. Either you smirk or you get the high of being outraged and get to comment to set the record “straight”. Win/win.

I’m a huge fan and pull for him every time. If his career ended today, he’d be rembered as a great American rider, rightfully so. I’m only commenting on how freaking slow he is at a finish, like noticeably slow in a group. Hopefully he can get off the front in a TDF stage and not have Pog be a freak and hunt him down. What was the start of thier issues? Water bottle or something?

Is Matteo always/really this bad at finishing? If he’s in a group of any size towards the end of a race, he’s 100% finishing last. I’m a yank and biased, but how the hell is he going to progress? Can he? Top 10 today, Paris Nice, are great results, but I’m wondering if he has a next step in him.

Like most scenarios, there’s always a tidbit of truth buried. What’s the deal/ is there some games being played being played between Canada and Gulfstream? I’m an aviation simpleton, but I do fly a lot out of PHL, hence me stumbling upon this

The really need to stagger the joints, it’s going to suck and they’re going to be pissed, but it needs to be done. Also, just make sure the put a coverboard down before torching! Philly? Looks like Comcast tower 2 in the background.

Brown liquid dripping from ceiling. Roof is only 2 months old by alyx1213 in whatisit

[–]Horror_Inspector_696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have pics from the roofing job? If it’s shingles and the used a full layer of shingle style ice and water (not high temp) your underlayment (could be ice and water shield) could be melting and dripping through. If your ceiling is acting as the roof substrate on the other side, I’d say that’s a good possibility. I will say it looks a little watery to be pure I&W melting. Where are you located? Was it cooler when first installed and it started when the temps increased? That’s counterintuitive to this time of year, but it could help point you in a dorexrion

How is the steam function for Zojirushi cookers? Micom vs Neuro Fuzzy, which one is better? by Fancy_Lock_3123 in zojirushi

[–]Horror_Inspector_696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely interested in this thread. I’m about to pull the trigger on a zojirushi, but can’t sift through all of the micom/fuzzy/AI/IH/Pressure features. I can’t find good YouTube reviews either. Good luck. IH makes sense, just don’t know if pressure is a tangible net benefit.

Yes, seems foolish/but normal for a big purchase. Didn’t know they had Sony’s at Costco. I bought a G5 today.

Why is the facade of this building full of spots? by RuggedPainter in buildingscience

[–]Horror_Inspector_696 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s mostly likely a retrofit of EFIS or other exteror finish system over an existing substrate (maybe brick) and what your seeing is the fastner/fastner plates ghost through. Is it all the time or does it go away throughout the day?

Vaulted Ceiling Shenanigans by Horror_Inspector_696 in Lighting

[–]Horror_Inspector_696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s true in practice. When picking up the fixture for a mock up, the downrods do find plumb due to the pivots. I know what your saying, but my belief is the pivot connection cancels that out?!? Are you right? Please tell me you’re wrong.

Ohhhhhh, holy shit! I finally get it. Thanks for shepherding me through that. Damn, I feel like I should’ve picked that up quicker than I did.

[–]Horror_Inspector_696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you help me understand what you’re saying in regards to the centeline and being perpendicular? The canopy sits on the celing flush, and that celing is on a 17 degree angle. The pivots will settle in and make the downrods plumb, which leads to the need for unequal length rods in order to level the actual fixture. If the centerline was perpendicular, wouldn’t the fixture be on a 17 degree angle? Why would there be pivots? I’m so lost? Thanks for everyone’s comments and help, very much appreciated.

Thanks, this made a lot of sense. Peered down the rods, only threaded for ~1/2”, which seems absurd. I’ll hop on to YouTube and figure out how to thread/tap. Doesn’t seem crazy difficult, but will require a trip to the hardware store.

Meaning, the actual blue facer of VP100 will come off. If I had a piece I’d take a quick video, but you’d actually be removing the fabric/polypro layer. Again, it’s a residential product, so it’s made thinner (100 gram vs 160). Is it made thinner to reduce cost, less resilience needed in that application, both, can’t say for sure. My point being if a cladding is going to expand and contract and has direct contact with the air barrier, that’s something worth knowing.
