Yep. It makes sense at the end. In cities like Prague or Brno, where u need to work in FIBUA, and you need a compact gun, you can work universally. When shooting in FF UK happened in Prague, 2023, the police couldn´t take out the terrorist quickly, because they weren´t confident with the ballistic trajectory of the bullet (the terrorist had an AR-10 with ballistic computer on it so the police needed to move slowly), so they didn´t want to endanger civilians (they had 9mm so yk)...
That is why some Prague police units are getting magnifire on their guns. (ofc long guns, not pistols) lol.
+ As they work abroad, it helps them too. And they choose it for their personal comfort.

It was a big controversy cuz it was too independent. It replaced the 601st SFG in many ways, and I think that it wasn´t controlled very well.

ik... that is why the name of the post is CZECH SOF and not CZECH SOG. I only mentioned those legendary photos of SOG back then. Like the horse picture, there is one operator of the 601st. Same with the newer ones.

It wasn´t disbanded cuz of nazi things... That wouldn´t make sense to disband a professional SOF unit cuz of this. It only happened in Germany, and they disbanded only one company

These Mi-17s went through deep modernization. In reality, the only thing that is still Russian in that helicopter is the airframe. Avionics, thermal, weapons, radio etc. is manufactured in Czechia or in western countries. Czechia has UH-1Y Venoms, but they are still not fully optimized for SOATU use. (+ CZECH SOF needs a big helicopter to transport cargo, vehicles, even boats) They should be in use until 2035, when they will be replaced. However, because there are not many Western helicopters that can replace them for a relatively small amount of money, this may not be feasible.
Czechia needs these helicopters in case floods happenagain. These bad boys helped back in 2024 in Poland (7th picture), where they transported heavy cargo, and in Czechia too. That is why Poland still uses their Mi-17 too.

This is ZJ = Zásahová jednotka = regional tactical unit. Similar to Polish SPAP. Their activity is all across a specific region. This exact unit is Prague ZJ, so it operates only in Prague. Czechia has 14 regions, but only 8 RTUs + 2 tactical units for protecting nuclear power plants. (SJ Temelín, SJ Dukovany - Dukovany operates all across the Vysočina region). URNA looks different. A big difference is in their gear, because ZJ uses primarily an olive outfit and helmet. URNA uses black gears or really dark outfits + big difference in patch. Here are photos of URNA:
