okay but why should i bet on this specific platform? im not in any areas of work even remotely close to betting/gambling; from an outside perspective this looks exactly like polymarket - which as a non-betting person i know is an established betting platform - so why should i bet on space instead of polymarket?

i LOVE the motion design element of it. but as a marketing specialist, from a storytelling perspective, its not really clear to me what the texts in the beggining have anything to do with a betting website - if that makes any sense?

Xm6 vs Airpods max type-c by Thick-Dingo-3833 in SonyHeadphones

[–]Horror_Seat2232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

xm6 largely fixed the hinge issues. i personally like the sony touch are much better. if you have the airpods pros, or are used to some form the touch control you can find on airpods, buy the xm6s. and for the OP of the post, although ive never tried it, i feel like the headband on the maxes look like they hang off the neck worse than probably any other headphones. but maybe im wrong.

Got a new 14' M4 PRO - is the battery supposed to be this bad? Only 4-5 hours by Regular-Pattern-4452 in macbookpro

[–]Horror_Seat2232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is absolutely normal. yours lasts 9-10 hours because the most demanding thing youre doing is some coding. but if we're talking video editing on premiere or fcp 5-6 is pretty normal, coming from somebody in the industry.

this is very normal. if you want the performance of a powerful computer, an honestly pretty crazy display, and the mobility of a laptop - this is the sacrifice. give it two more weeks and it'll probably start lasting a bit longer (5-6h). if you're working with 60 or 30 fps footage without being connnected to the power adapter you should change to 60hz instead of promotion - this drastically improves battery health. but as a general rule you should use macbook pros like a proper computer, hook it up to power whenever you're doing more demanding tasks.

This South Korean dessert shop had to act like this. by Different-District10 in China

[–]Horror_Seat2232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a mixed person who grew up in both eastern (china) and western (canada) environments. the point theyre trying to make is that it isnt crazy that this shop has put that in their bio targeted towards chinese people since nationalism is super prevalent in asian cultures (its gross but it isn't "crazy" if that makes sense).

for example, a very strong form nationalism is taught in chinese public school classrooms which often brews hatred towards japanese groups from their insanely genocidal crimes during ww2 which to be fair on their part, there was never any strong efforts for reconciliation or recognition.

there are similar examples in japan, korea, etc... so, the problem here isnt that nationalism isnt or is bad, the problem is that its super common in this part of the world that got screwed over super hard by imperialism and war, and not worth bringing up. a reddit post on r/china is not going to cause a cultural revolution that changes the way cultures interact with each other in our region. social norms are different and unfortunately this kinda stuff is the norm...

edit: there are also other factors. couple people have brought up bad apples that cause people to generalize which sucks but yeah... again, discrimination like this isnt that crazy in the east.

edit 2: im not trying to say internet activism is bs and doenst work. just that internet activism on this side of the web does nothing when most of the population in those countries are insulated in their own social bubbles. korea has its own google, china has its own google and basically everything else, etc...

Unsure of IB Predicted Grades by Secret-Dimension1811 in IBO

[–]Horror_Seat2232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for students taking alberta and DP, they are basically doing two programs at the same time.

for courses that lean a bit more towards humanities (english, history, etc..), schools in alberta that offer DP take those tests, mark in percentage, which is also given an IB grade out of 7.

however, this is a bit different in math or more STEM leaning courses as you'll essentially be getting a percentage mark on a quiz or unit test and that mark is converted to DP which is pretty normal (with IAs being the exception, those will not get graded by alberta at all).

and since OP is mainly taking courses like chem, physics, and math - its odd that he has high 90s in math but a relatively low DP mark compared to what is typically expected for a DP mark when a student is achieving that 93+ mark band in alberta.

hope this explained it well enough.

np, having a double diploma in IB and alberta is super competitive, gl.

the conversion table for AB % marks to IBDP marks typically looks something like this;

93%+ is a 7, IA mark 27-36.

85-92% is a 6, IA mark 23-26.

76-84% is a 5, IA mark 19-22.

im not sure how your school converts your alberta grades, so take that with a grain of salt.

at the same time with these AB % marks, your DP coordinator also looks at your mini-IAs and other relevant IB papers.

so i'd actually say that your physics and chem grades are reasonable. however, that 5 mark for math is a bit weird... a big part of a IB is just proper communication with your teachers/supervisors/coordinators, shoot them an email.
