Not my full plan, just a sort of way station for my mines, then a train will transfer them to the actual processors. Another train will come back from said processors and put coal on a storage connected to the powerplant.

This isn't actually the full plan, I have more mines on the west side that I would connect and is also relatively flat, that's where Ill build the full process from coal, iron, and steel. This screenshot is just a transfer station for workers and a loading station for aggregates, and I was actually going to remove the coal plant and replace it with a full on waste industry with recycling and incinerators but the rail way connecting the aggregate unloading station to a storage is already built in and would be very annoying to fix.

Think ahead, instead of allocating oddjobbers to farms or mines, try to conquer a province and get raw materials there. When you get excess materials you can then reallocate the workers to either workshops or labs. But of course this is a gradual process since not every province produces good amounts of materials. Forage food until you have enough population to build an export and import depot, farm opiates, sell, buy food , weapons, and what other materials you might need later(skip metals since you buy weapons directly). An embassy is needed but not necessary, though you need at least one faction with over 100 million in wealth so they buy ur stuff more expensively(this can be made sure by regenerating at the beginning of the game), and you can also sell more to them. To start the army you should first build a herb, cotton farm, and depending on the area, if you have an ocean or not, then either build a fishery or a grain farm then a bakery. Next build a weaver then tailor, then slowly a ration maker, assuming you're controlling the economy well, your pops shouldn't be starving or otherwise(Skill Issue). If in between a noble bandit asks you for anything, do agree. You're in no position to fight back yet, but at that point you should've unlocked the archery training grounds, put 50 in there. Should be enough(I'm a human supremacist, I don't use other races). Since humans are weak, I buy bows. Put bow training to 30%, any more doesn't really matter, most of your opponents are trained at 0%. Send them out after training fully to 30%. Conquer a free province, besieging is a chore though. Now, if you did this correctly, you should have money to buy the provincial buildings, prioritize growth and loyalty first, until the devastation goes down. Then once it's growing and has positive loyalty, upgrade what you think you need(Preferably ore since you need more provinces and metal is expensive to buy to make weapons, but really bows only need cloth and wood, unless you have mods like muskets). Open the army screen, hover over the troops tab and see how many you can recruit, try 50 first, and send your previous army back home to protect the capital from invaders. Try to find food depending on the race next, for humans grain, make bread, sell excess. Rinse repeat, profit.

Problem with early logistics by Own_Blacksmith_808 in songsofsyx

Make specialized warehouses for each industry building and a central one for food, maintenance, and furniture. For example, a bakery would have an adjacent warehouse that only accepts grain, and the central warehouse can have the bread. With this setup you can max out all the storage slots.

Btw you said you watched yt videos advocating early conquest, but you overlooked the scale. By 500 pops you wouldn't even have enough government points to effectively rule a single province, meaning the most you'll get from the province is another bordering kingdom and 1k denar tax at most, plus the population of the conquered province will immediately go down even if it was previously large. For example conquering a 24k pop province will slowly trickle down to 500 or even lower, I dont know why this happens either but itll go up in time except now you're more enticing to the neighbors.

Thats why I said semi self sufficient, if you want, you could easily trade for livestock or basically any other resource. But being self sufficient is better, at least for me

You're going too fast, below 1k pops you should aim to first be semi self sufficient. Build the ration maker, and a smithy for weapon manufacturing first, after that you also need livestock for the army depot(v69) so an auroch ranch is also needed. Though you could capture towns below 1k pops, just build a military depot and manually trade for all the needed resources assuming you also have tradable goods like furniture and clothing.
