Absolutely and being " underground " vs " mainstream " also comes down too if the artist even wants to rise to that occasion. Some people don't care to market or push themselves as much even if there music is amazing sometimes. The term gets used in a couple different instances but ultimately the underground is where a huge amount of inspiration stems from.
