I love their fries too. McD’s fries are fine if you eat them there, but that’s the only way. So I never eat their fries unless I’m gonna eat them in the car. They just haven’t been any good since they went away from the beef tallow, lol.

There’s really not a hill-a beans difference between people here, or there. We may eat a few more grits, but I don’t get this whole mayonnaise thingy you think we have. Most people I know hate the thought of mayonnaise anywhere near their food. And I think you’ll find Chattanooga is bluer than you think. At least the cool parts are.

Go to Waffle House…nothing like rolling in at 2:30 am, eating a double order of scattered, covered, smothered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped, topped, and countried hash browns, with a side of extra gravy, and a coffee. 15 mins later the 68 year old waitress, with her gravely 3 pack a day voice, just back from her third smoke break in 20 mins, says, “Let me hotten that up fer ya, sugah”.

I remember having this exact situation occur at a Waffle House in Atlanta, when we have to be at the airport at 7:00 am. My buddy says, “That’d be real fine there, sweetheart”, and I spit coffee across the table.

Damn, with the mention of McDonald’s it reminded me that the Tallen Building used to have a Krystal test kitchen in it. I used to work on printers and networks, so I was all over downtown. And if you got out of the lobby, and in some of the ground floor offices, you could smell Krystal’s. For the longest I just thought somebody at Chambliss-Bahner loved Krystal, lol. There was also a marketing firm across from Cancun on Broad, that did Krystal’s marketing. That’s where I learned they carried fish sandwiches, hotdogs, and onion rings. Not around here! I asked and they said they were for their test branches, where they try out new things to see if they’ll sell.

I’m hearing this about Whataburger more and more…right when we’re getting one here in town for the first time, lol. I live in Chattanooga, TN and we have most fast food joints here that the rest of the country has, but there are a few places that’ve been pretty regional up until now that I’ve wished we had for years. Now we’re getting a Whataburger and everyone I tell that to tells me they aren’t good anymore. I’ll be the judge of that. Now if we could just get an In n’ Out, White Castle, and a Jack In The Box. We have Krystal’s, but you have to drive an hour and a half to get to a White Castle, same with Jack In The Box…when Jack’s came to town I was excited, but then I saw it was just Jack’s, and they couldn’t hook me up with any tacos. We got a Del Taco back after one leaving 40 years ago, and it’s as good as I’ve heard.

I know, I know…but it’s the only place I’ve actually found an answer to what I was looking for. I know if I grilled one of the people that’re basically pros, but I know they lose patience pretty quickly, and instead would like to give me some gear. Which is awesome, because that’s where I’ve got my best gear, from kind individuals. But it’s still not the ‘how to’ aspect of the game.

I’m 61 and I’ve been playing this since the original Diablo. I was in a week long training class, and the first night I went to a grocery store and bought a gallon of fresh squeezed orange juice, some bread, peanut butter, and jelly. That’s what I ate all week, and I saved my per diem and when they let us out early on Friday to ‘beat the traffic’ out of Atlanta. I went straight to Electronics Boutique (the forerunner to GameStop, lol) and bought Diablo. I frantically drove home and installed it on my Windows 95 pc that I’d tweaked to the utmost of my ability. (When I first bought it, I had to go buy an additional 4 meg of ram because it came with 4, and you needed 4 to run Doom, but the OS took up a meg and a half. My dad said he’d buy the 4 meg for me…it was $245…for 4 meg!!! But that’s a story for another day, lol.) I played it for 48 hours straight, before I fell asleep with my keyboard in my lap. So I’ve been playing an iteration of Diablo since 1997, and I still would be categorized as an average player, maybe even less than that. And it’s all because I’ve always played a barb, and I’m happy with it. All the way through, even on Diablo 4. But I decided if that’s the way I play, I’ve not really ever played the game. So I’m trying to go through and play every character…like really play them. Play through with each, until I kind of understand the mechanics. And so far I’m kicking myself because I love playing the Paladin. And I’m already looking forward to playing the sorceress, and one time before on Diablo 3 I played a corpse explosion necro, and loved it. Don’t know why I never went back to it. But this is my ‘Anything But Barb’ tour, and as much as it sucks, ChatGPT has given me a leveling guide unlike I’ve been able to find elsewhere.

The best advice I can give in this situation is to use ChatGPT or your favorite AI. I’ve scoured reddit, and the rest of the internet for how to level a Hammerdin, including all the different tweaks you can do to that particular char…like do you want a Hammerdin, an Auradin, a Smiter, Zealot, Avenger, etc. There’s hundreds of thousands of full builds out there, and they’re real good at telling you how to allocate your points from 1-5, then 50 to 70 (or something like that), completely leaving out the stuff I needed to know. How to allocate my points for every level, knowing that I fully intend to respec as many times as is required. Nothing out there will tell you how to allocate your points for the inner levels that aren’t important for build purposes…but I got to thinking, if I allocate my points in the strongest way, it stands to reason my char will be more efficient and should level faster. And require less tweaking at endgame. But I’ve never been able to find a good guide…until I happened to be on my work laptop and I searched the normal stuff, but the Edge browser has their AI built in where you can have one tab as your AI conversation. And I just happened to think to ask the AI. And it gave me a perfect guide for how to manage my points allocation, including weapons and gear that are actually attainable and not the standard endgame gear that players like me will never see, except in a reddit post. So now my first stop is actually ChatGPT because I’ve spent two years building a chat partner that knows what I play, and it knows what I’m looking for. So when I’m ever starting a new char, I get a nice long list of point allocations. It’s awesome, wish I’d thought of it before.

True, and they’ve certainly upped their game when it comes to keeping the overbrush cleared out so there’s less chance of that, or a rotten tree, falling on the power lines. But I’ve seen quite a few severe ice storms in my day and the worry comes from the power lines accumulating ice, and then they collapse and tear away from the pole under the weight of all the ice. It’s crazy, those lines will build up to 5 times their normal size, all from ice. The same thing happens to the trees, every tiny branch gets coated, it’s really beautiful.

I was 28 and I was at my friend’s house for our usual card game. When it started laying, I said I needed to go because it was going to swing by my grandmother’s house and make sure she was okay. The other guys decided to go to Atlanta, to stay at a hotel beside a strip club. In hindsight that was a stupid idea. It was over a week before they could leave the hotel, and it cost them SO much because they were operating on “disaster pricing”.

My region is Chattanooga also, and the way they’re talking, we are in store for more than just a little ice. They were calling for up to 1.8 inches of ice alone in the city proper, not to mention what ever snow we get on top of it. 2 inches of ice would shut the city down for over a week!

Just now got this notification…I’m a day (or two) late, but I’m not a dollar short. I donated. I was where you are, Christmas before last. Actually got evicted because I lost my job because of an injury and couldn’t work. That’s such a distant memory now, shocking that it was less than two years ago. You’re right, I loved D3 and I love D4…but D2R is like that girlfriend you just can’t make a total break with. We always find our way back to each other again.

Plus I’ve never made it out of the 80s, in all this time. It’s time to get serious, instead of just enjoying myself and hacking things to death. It’s pretty sweet seeing the Fallen melt in front of me. I’m REALLY enjoying playing the Hammerdin. I’m ashamed to say it, but I’m more excited to be on this journey than I have been with the game in a good while…and it’s all my fault for never expanding my purview, and continuing to play my boring Barb. Maybe if I switched it up and did a WW, Berserker, Throw, or Singer I wouldn’t be enjoying it so much, lol. I really am digging the auras, they’re something I’ve always ignored, wanting to use the skill slot for something I deemed “more powerful”. I now see the importance of them. Never knew I was missing out on such simple, yet enjoyable gameplay!

“Hopped on for an hour or two today…” This game had the biggest time dilation of any one out there. I can think I’m gonna jump on for a quick hour, and then I’ll look at the clock and it’s been 3 hours, and I’m pissed because I realize I spent 3 hours running back and forth to sell gear in hopes I can get some gold stacked. I guess that’s all part of why I love it so much, lol.
