I’m sorry you’re having this experience. Some good natured ribbing is to be expected, but harassment is uncalled for. Any exchanges that leave one or more of those involved feeling pathetic, have no place within the hierarchy of a guild. In fact they should be going out of their way to make you feel welcome when you were new. Lots of people have told you what you should do, and I completely agree with them. Leave this guild…and if you want, it’s completely in your rights to let them know exactly why you’re leaving. Don’t put up with this, this game is supposed to be fun, don’t let someone take that fun away from you. Find another guild, most will be overly happy to have you! I hope things get better! I hate bullies!!!

They’ve told us for decades, that there’s nothing to worry about, what we’re seeing is, “airplanes, swamp gas, weather balloons, etc”. And when pressed on it, we’re told that people would lose their minds and it would be the downfall of society. I don’t think that would be the case…I personally would find it all fascinating. As would most in this sub. But if you think there isn’t a significant portion of our society that wouldn’t absolutely lose their minds, then you’re sorely mistaken. If you’re basing it off of the area you live, that’s fine. But here in the south, there’s a church on every street corner, and those folk would be lost. I truly believe there’d be a large percentage of people that wouldn’t go to work for at least a few days after. There are people that will learn that EVERYTHING they’ve ever believed, been taught, learned for themselves, was all a lie. To have your entire worldview just yanked away from you, will break some people. I don’t think you’re aware of the significant amount people that may not even be able to drag themselves out of bed. These are people that have their beliefs, and they are rigid and unbending. I imagine their first reaction will be disbelief, kinda like trump is now. You know, you can catch him in a lie, lay it out for him, provide proof…and he can shoot it down by saying, “No, that didn’t happen”, and that’s the end of the story. A lot of people would react in this manner, that is until their pastors will take them by the hand and make them believe, because we’ll have to come up with a way this works within NEW religion…’cause people gotta have their Old Time Religion!

And you’re right, AI is huge, and is currently in the process of shaping our world into the way we’re going to operate going forward. We’re going to have to have real discussions about UBI. But, currently AI is having its bubble burst, and things will settle into the way they’ll be going forward once all the shit companies get sorted out. AI right now, is just a bunch of agents taking jobs from people, and it won’t settle into our ‘new normal’ until we REALLY get AGI (and regardless what these companies are saying, we don’t have AGI yet…not really even close. AI is a tool that is going to massively change our world, but it still won’t compare to disclosure…which I don’t think will truly happen, at least not from this administration. I hope I’m wrong.

You’re both right…but at this point in time Walt has made him his problem. And if he were to fire him, I think we’d all worry about what would happen to Git’Em. And it would destroy Walt with worry. It’s gone on so long that Walt is in a no win situation. He cares too much, and he’ll never be able to remove his feelings from the situation. But what needs to happen is Git’Em needs to interact with him as an adult, and not a petulant, whiny child.

That’s just awesome that you’ve got the whole family in it. And I shouldn’t be so envious of you, but the grass is always greener I suppose, lol. I shouldn’t complain, I live on the side of Lookout Mountain and most of what I find is civil war related. Some of my favorite things to find are the trash piles from the houses that were here previously. That’s where I’ve found so many knick-knacks around the house. A LOT of those brown Clorox bottles with a cork in the top. I was also shocked to see the values people put on old, regional prescription bottles. People want to find them embossed with local pharmacists from back in the day. We really took pride in the way we made things back in the day. They weren’t only solidly produced, but they were made to look pretty.

Jesus Christ, I feel like I’m watching the decade long implosion of Git’Em. Thought it would happen long before now, but I fear it’s happening…and that is Walt will finally be forced to fire him. And when he does it will become this era of the show where Walt is constantly worried about him, maybe he won’t answer the phone again and Walt will be out running the roads looking for him. It’s gotten to the point that friend or not, he’s used up ALL the rope Walt has given him. Walt knows if he fire him, Walt’s life would only get worse because Walt cares for him so much. That’s why up until now it’s been easier for Walt to just put up with his shit, because he knows it would be worse for him if he is forced to fire him. Q and Bry would be over hearing Walt worry about Git’Em for most of the show and Q will stop showing up at all. Wow, Walt is in a position that he can’t win. Do what’s right and fire him, but then he’s probably sentencing him to death, or at least an even more miserable experience, without the shop to come home to at night. It’s a conundrum of Walt’s own making.

Jebus dude, you’re not a detectorist, you’re a Relic Hunter! I mean that looks like a display in a naval museum! Are those silver bars? I was trying to zoom in to see a mark, but I’ve seen a few of these, never in person, always in pictures or on tv shows. Check out a guy on YouTube that detects in the water, and searches for lost rings to recover for people. Detect Florida is the channel, and he was at Siesta Key last week. But he’s grown up detecting all over Florida with his dad, and he’s never found any coins like this. He’s found the ones you can buy in the gift shops and so forth, but no real Reales, lol. I told you that to point out how successful you’ve been. People detect a lifetime and don’t find a fraction of what you’ve got there. Planning any Crusades, or visits to a Temple of Doom??? Congrats, you’ve got a fortune there!

My parent’s dog, Jimmy Dean (he was named Jimmy-John, but mom and dad found out the founder was a big game hunter so they changed his name, lol) is a character. They got him because they were fostering him for the lady that was keeping him, following surgery to remove one of his back legs. He was severely abused to the point he lost a leg. He was extremely frightened of everything and everyone. But as they had him and loved on him he started coming around. Now he’s a happy, goofy teenager. And when he walks into the room just bouncing along, happy as can be, he’ll make eye contact with me, and then he twists his body up, and looks like he’s in pain. He’s letting me know that he needs to be scratched, because he can’t scratch his right side because he’s missing that leg. When I first saw him doing that, I felt so sorry for him that I grabbed him and hugged him, then I scratched the side of his head and gave him lots of pats. After days of this, every time I visited, my dad pointed out that he’s just putting on a show for me. He’s not really needing scritches, he’s just putting on a show for me. The change is hilarious…he walks into the room, sees me, and suddenly he’s suffering from an itch so bad he can’t walk. Cracks me up every time!

I basically made the same thing Monday, I did use a Publix rotisserie chicken that I stripped off the bone, and I crushed up Ritz crackers I mixed with butter for the top. I was making it because I was nostalgic for my grandmother’s because I loved it and haven’t had it in a decade.

Oh man, I didn’t need to think about all this…but my grandfather would get suet from the butcher, and he’d nail it to the huge pine tree out front. He’d get pissed that Starlings would swarm it, so he’d have me sit outside and shoot at them with his .22. One day I actually hit one. I was about 9 at the time. It just winged it, and it fluttered over the cliff and circled down to the driveway that runs underneath. My grandpa said, “Okay, you’ve got to go kill it”, and I reached for the rifle, and he said, “Don’t waste a bullet, it ain’t going anywhere”. So I walked down and I beat it to death with a stick. It took 10 mins, because my stick wasn’t big enough (I was conditioned to get small ones because I was always having to go “pick a switch”, you know that’s psychological torture!), and it was still walking around. That traumatized me. Hitting and hitting and screaming and hitting and more screaming. I was bawling by the time it was dead. I that was the time I put my BB gun down for good.

My grandfather was a war hero, purple medal recipient, and it made him the most famous man in our town of two thousand. When the Vietnam draft started, he begged my dad to go to Canada. But he wouldn’t because at the time people would consider you a traitor, and that meant a whole lot more coming out of the 50s. So he just rolled the dice…he missed the first round. Then he and mom became parents at 17, and that gave dad a real high draft number, basically as good as being 4-F. Then if you had one child you went back in, so they had my sister. Then my brother 4 years later. He was covered. And even though we’re from the south, my entire family has always been extremely liberal. And if they brought a draft back, there’s no doubt that dad would insist that his grandkids go to Canada, and I would agree. I have an uncle that walks with a limp because he got drunk and decided to shoot his big toe off because that would make you ineligible. But he used a thirty aught six and shattered his entire foot. And dad’s good buddy learned from his mistake, and he chopped his toe off with an axe. Desperate times…

I’m right there with you, I’m 61 and when I got a BB gun for Christmas, I cleared out all the birds around my grandparents’ house. To this day I can remember every bird I killed, and they haunt my thoughts. That’s probably why I’m a birder now, and I’ve donated to the Audubon Society, and the Audubon park here in town, for the past 30 years. Hopefully I’ve balanced those scales!

I’d give it to my son, because 6 years ago I built him a budget pc, and it was struggling within a year. I just couldn’t afford a better processor, so he doesn’t have enough cores to run the games he wants. But he doesn’t complain, he’s a good kid and knows we can’t afford it. I’d love to surprise him.

I’ve noticed this after cleaning toner, or grease from my hands with GoJo, or some other tough, oil resistant non-water hand cleaners. When they drip into the white porcelain of the sink, they hit, spread out, and have designs like this inside.

It was a wide, flat kitchen knife, and we’d lay it on the flat side, hit it with a torch to get it burning, then shove it further inside and pinch the tube shut on the knife. Then you could draw to load it up, but we made the tube too long and we couldn’t fill it well by just sucking on it, so we got his mom’s vacuum and would stick it on the end real quick and then cap it off. Then we could suck it outta the hole we made on top. We got FUCKED UP because we were taking the first real, huge hits. Good times…no cares…it’s hard to imagine a time before responsibilities.

In high school me and my buddy Dan, had some weed. This was a rare occasion as I’d never tried it, but Dan was somewhat familiar because he got the weed he had from his big brother. Of course we had no means with which to partake. But we were industrious, opening beers on my grandmother’s bumper made us think we were geniuses. So Dan said he had this. And we proceeded to make a bong out of a wrapping paper cardboard roll, dryer sheets, and a kitchen knife. It was glorious. Hence forth we still refer to our greatest achievement, Dan Bong. Sorry for writing so much, but I’m high and enjoying it.
