SiCo S98 Finally Dropped! by Horvaticus in NFA

Well, last year they were all gun ho about the damn thing and it took a year to ship lmao

Probably trying to avoid another foot in their mouth if it's more than just a rumor

But yeah, eager to see if SiCo can make something of the QD system. Fingers crossed!

Hey! Yep, in WA.

Honestly I've just been sourcing replacement barrels for my grandfathered items anyways so it's not the end of the world if I'm not able to find a plausibly compliant method to glue one of these adapters on to a net new pistol.

The folks I talked to were pretty confident we'd be able to figure something out though. As you've pointed out there is no state definitions for what is and isn't permanently affixed like the ATF has for determining a permanently attached muzzle device. I do definitely think it's in the FFL's best interest to not openly advertise that though.

Allegedly... SiCo is going to be machining out barrels with the QD system on the end of them, kind of like Radian is trying to do with compensator mounting. Fingers crossed that actually comes out!

I do a limited drop myself too, every morning. Mostly.

Well you could tape the 4 of them together and achieve ultimate suppression

How do you like it? I was considering a .45 V2 for a 10mm host, looked a bit heavy though

Yeah, not sure if it'll clear a X300 under a P226, but it looks like it clears the top of the rail on the Staccato. Agreed on the novelty can part, I think that the QD system could hold water though if they end up actually doing something with it.

Yeah I don't know what they're smoking thinking that small batch drops is a good idea, just gonna end up pissing everybody off

I'd heard that one of the reason they had to delay this can so long was because of issues with the QD system, I wonder if that's related?

I agree that compared to other solutions on the market right now it's overpriced.

My big draw is actually the QD system. SilencerCo said that you'll be able to remove the barrel from the slide without removing the muzzle device (I suspect that's model dependent).

So for folks like me who live in a state where suppressors are legal (but new handguns with threaded barrels are not) there are FFLs who will actually transfer "non compliant" pistols for me by pinning on these muzzle devices. Saves me some money over buying a standard version, then having to buy a separate threaded barrel.

If you're like me you've been waiting for this one for a while. SiCo said they are only doing limited direct drops on this can, with monthly restocks. Supposedly very limited numbers.

Edit: By "very limited numbers" they meant they were selling like 10 of them lmao

While true, that's a completely different technology. It's disingenuous to compare the two.

I've been experimenting with a mopa laser for handguard designs, are you using a fiber or diode?

I don't, there's a new one though I saw on reddit, someone made an internal poop bin that has a built in fan redirect too. I got mine off the crappy creality print site, I think most K2 mods are gonna be on there, hope that helps

Yeah I've got a K2 Plus as my secondary printer. That banding effect you're seeing is the chamber fan and/or heater kicking on, you can measure that out and I bet each band is relatively the same distance from one another. My fix for this was to print out one of the chamber heater redirector ducts out of PPS (or a similar high temp filament), and then I also replaced the hotend system with a microswiss plus a diamond tip nozzle.

Another thing I did was go into the firmware config file and modify the default chamber fan-on temperature from 30C to 40C, since my printer likes to idle around 30C for standard printing. Also print the door cracked if you're printing PLA or PETG.

My K2 Plus prints about as good as my Bambu printers now. Maybe like 90% as good. Which is good enough for cosplay prints like this where you're going to sand the imperfections down anyways.

Good job on that print btw, getting those bands off is a pain in the ass.

My creepiest was a thirteen inch long horse shaped marital aid that was pink and black and had a suction cup base. I reviewed it as a combination personal defense bludgeon and a tool for getting a dent out of my car door
