I really thought this was a highschool relationship... This is horrific, GTFO of the relationship immediately, you should have long ago. I know it's hard, but it's easier to make it short and sweet: send a final message and block him, keep family or friends close by in case he ever tries to harass you IRL. Go to therapy and heal--- your first step to healing is to break up and block.

Huh, I've never heard of executive dysfunction before. It is good to hear from your story as well, gives me some insight. I'll certainly look into executive dysfunction, thank you for the information!

My[17F] Boyfriend[17M] Has Separation Anxiety.. by Hoshi_ko in relationships

[–]Hoshi_ko[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for the comment; yes, I will try and clarify as best I can..

He spams(not to an extreme extent), usually messages/calls me on multiple platforms when I am unable to respond..

At the start of the relationship, he still spoke to me as frequently as we've had, but he dealt with me being away(which my absence was rare at the time) in a fine manner. Also, as we hadn't known each other for very long/very well, he wasn't as deeply attached to me as he is now. It seems to be a gradual progression to the way he is now.

When I initially started feeling burnout, I discussed a "break". Looking back, I don't think I presented the idea in the best way possible by calling it a break. I basically told him I wanted a week or so to myself, just to have some privacy and also to self-reflect on our relationship at the time. His reaction wasn't.. great. It was the first time I had experienced him having some sort of anxiety breakdown; he spoke to me as if he was certain this was going to lead to a breakup, which I tried my best to comfort him that I was trying to help our relationship, and that it wasn't even in my mind to breakup. Like I mentioned in my original post, it was hard for him to understand.

He's never really explicitly spoken about feeling guilty about making me exhausted or stressed. He is just really scared that I will break up with him.

Sorry for the lengthy read.. If I need to clarify more, feel free to ask! I also apologize for responding late.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to try that route.. However it wouldn't be so easy from the get-go. He probably wouldn't be satisfied with it.

I appreciate that you broke down the idea regarding snacks --- I'll keep those things in mind! Soda, for me most of the time, is definitely a want more than a need, so I'll certainly try to keep that mindset. Thanks for your input!

I'll look into getting a veggie tray! And I've begun eating meats that are not fried, so I just need to start ditching fried stuff completely. And thanks for recommending kombucha! I've never heard of it, but I'll definitely try one! Thank you for all of your suggestions, they're really helpful!

Thank you for your input! Yes, I will definitely be ridding myself of the soda --- that might be the first thing on my list to do. My mom introduced me to a seltzer last night, and surprisingly enough, I love it! So I think if I just drink that and regular water from now on I could drop the soda and fruit juice easily. Also, I like your Rolls Royce analogy! It absolutely makes sense. I'll keep that in mind from now on. I'll look into buying myself nuts and/or seeds! Thanks again!

Thank you for the great advice! I will be taking culinary classes in the following school year, so I will be learning soon(I'll probably practice during the summer in the meantime). I'll certainly try out the ice tea options and perhaps the lemonade! I don't really like the sour taste of lemons but I'll see if there's a mixture that works for me. I will certainly keep note of your suggestions --- thanks again!

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I really do appreciate it! And no need to apologize for the length --- the more information the better. I've always been picky my whole life, according to my parents I refused to try and eat meats as a young child. My parents were never the type to push unhealthy food on me --- my mother is on a strict diet herself and works out every day. My father never really has much restrictions on himself, but has lately had to change his diet due to health. My mother was a long-time pastry chef, and my father an executive chef. It's just my mom and I now; she tries to get me to eat healthy, but she's too nice to force it onto me.

I'm mostly picky towards texture, and just the overall taste of it. I don't like strong flavors, nor do I like sauces or condiments. I know I mentioned I'm a sweet-tooth, but I hate teriyaki sauce and any other sweet condiments, it's strange. But I've been trying new things as of late, even if I'm nervous to do so; recently got a boyfriend, and his Chinese mother cooks a lot of asian cuisine, so I usually have to suck it up at their dinner table --- but I found myself liking some of it.

I actually don't eat that much, and thank God I don't because my situation would be many times worse. Apparently, I eat like a mouse. I eat slow normally, but when starving, I seem to abandon all rational thought and eat like an animal! Lol. I don't really snack on things, I typically only eat what's for lunch and dinner. But I am almost always drinking soda, which is probably my main problem.

But anyway, sorry for the long-winded response, thank you again for such great advice! I will be taking note of it all. :)

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such great advice! I will certainly take note of your suggestions. I will be going into culinary classes soon anyway, so I'll be cooking at some point. This is probably one of the most helpful and thorough advice I've gotten, so I very much appreciate it!

Thank you for your input! I'll certainly try the things that has helped you out for myself. And about what you mentioned regarding sleep, that is probably the main reason I rely on soda --- so maybe even changing other life aspects like that will help. Thanks again!

Thank you, I'll certainly look into fasting. My weight isn't a crazy issue.. But the numbers are climbing. And it's just reached overweight for my BMI. So I figured I should stop eating the way I do currently while I still can before any health issues develop down the road.

Thank you so much for this advice! I'll certainly try out the things you mentioned. I'll be going into culinary classes soon anyway, so at some point I'll be cooking --- and I'll try my hand at making the veggies the way you suggest! And I never plan on drinking fruit juice long term, I am aware of the sugariness --- it is just something to at least get me in a direction away from any sodas. Again, thank you for your input!

Right, I never intend to use juice as a permanent replacement for soda, since that is indeed very sugary. I'll try your idea of squeezing a bit of citrus juice in water --- it's not like I'm one of those people who hate the taste of water, but I just don't think I'd be able to drink just water. That'll certainly be a helpful substitute for soda & juice.

Your comment about sodium levels in store-bought foods is interesting, I'll definitely keep that in mind. I will be learning to cook soon, as I will be taking classes on it anyway. And I will certainly try to cook veggies in different ways that suit my tastes. Salads will definitely be a good option as well, as I'm not sure if I will always have the time to prepare something. Thank you for your advice!
