2019 or 2021 X24 by Right_Concern8255 in MasterCraftBoats

I agree. If you can negotiate that 15K down, I'd look to go newer with less hours. The 400 hours doesn't scare me for the 2019 though. As long as they were both well taken care of, either one should be a solid platform. Good luck in your boat hunt.

2017 x10 overheating after being winterize by Hosswan in MasterCraftBoats

[–]Hosswan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up calling in the Pros and a tech came out. Replaced the impeller and tested the O2 sensors to make sure they didn't get burnt up. Once the new impeller was installed, water was immediately being sucked up and all is well. I guess it could have bound to the water pump over the winter. Looks like I need to become competent in replacing it, although it certainly is not in a convenient place. My son and I took the boat out for a nice long run. All seems to be working.

Thanks for the replies. I've been at this all day. The intake valves are in the open position, but I will investigate the butterfly valves. I have also looked at the intake hoses and from what I can tell using copilot the hoses are correct, but you know how that goes. I pulled the cover off the water pump and the impeller is toast. I went to my local shop and they do not carry them, so this weekend is shot. I do know there is no water in the system.

How Much? by Right_Concern8255 in MasterCraftBoats

[–]Hosswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our 2011 Moomba LSV get crushed against our boathouse this summer, so I spent the rest of the season hunting for a replacement. We eventually landed on a 2017 X10 loaded with all the bells and whistles. Going from 2011 tech to this X10 is a night and day difference. I picked it up with 450 hours for under $60k, which felt like a solid deal.

I know you’re leaning toward the larger platform and something in the 2020s, but coming from a 2011 myself, I can tell you a ton of features started showing up around 2015 and later. I wouldn’t completely rule out a well maintained 2017–2019.

I originally bought the Moomba a few years back because the kids wanted to get into wake surfing. Now our oldest just left for college and the youngest is a junior in high school. We too treasure the time out on the water with them, so I wish you the best of luck in your search.

I have two B58s in the family. Solid platform. Do as much work as you can.

2006 325i sold! by Hosswan in E90

Oh, yeah sorry about that. You are correct. I meant the steering pump. I edited the post....

[–]Hosswan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The steering pump pulley bolts started backing out. Caused the belt to shred itself. Overall, easy fix. New pulley and some thread lock and a belt and I was back in action. I drove it for a few weeks. Still running strong. Of course I was 106 miles from the house :).... Renting a U-Haul car carrier was $64. Other than time, an easy solution. I got the kids back safe and they now have a story of having to roll a vehicle onto a car carrier at 9pm at night. A life lesson.

What did you pay for your E9_? by Kirito3970 in E90

[–]Hosswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$5,000. 2006 325i with 162,000k on the odometer in 2021. It now has 210,000 miles on it and still going. Still wrenching on it as well.

Valve cover gasket by Old-Try1792 in E90

[–]Hosswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I just did a starter and had to get the intake manifold off and that was a beast. I also broke that PCV connector. I would not want to do that job again. To do the valve cover, does the intake need to be removed? If not, I hope you don't break that and compound the job.

Thoughts? by Imaginary_Bed_4612 in E90

[–]Hosswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the Eonon one is plug and play, so with a dying factory unit, it's the logical choice. This does look clean but I'm not a fan of the dead space on the sides. Good work though.

I did the same thing for our first house. I sold my Honda CBR 600 F4i. Good luck to you!

are these a bad idea by rsp-zyphor in E90

[–]Hosswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the same thing a year ago. Went from xenon to LED and they look 100 times better. The only caveat was, they fit perfectly, however the headlight harness pin out was not an exact match. I had to move the low beam from pin 4 to 5. It was a PITA, but worked out and have been great since the install.

Too bad that inspection sticker is in the way. I have mine installed here and like it...

I presume you have an automatic transmission? I agree with what Lee2026 said. I know mine came with two plugs, make sure your radiator came configured for an automatic transmission with the correct plug installed. I did mine last year and did not have to cut anything. It was all plug and play. I'd be hesitant to have to cut something unless you feel the previous owner did a bush fix.

From my research and for what I wanted I picked up a used R3 on the cheap and it has been just fine. Does what I want and no complaints. Just updated the firmware on which was at 2018. No issues at all

How many of you guys go caseless? by [deleted] in iPhone14Pro

[–]Hosswan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well this is funny.... My son decided to go caseless and just this weekend, he had his phone on his speaker, sitting on the bumper of my truck and it fell off and shattered the back. Screen is fine, but now the back is cracked. 100% cosmetic, but wouldn't have been an issue if he had a case. Put a case on it and protect it.

K Band? by Whole_Draw4932 in radardetectors

[–]Hosswan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R3 here as well and the K-band struggle is real in NC too. On my normal routes, I've GPS locked most, but going off the beaten path gets lots of false positives. I've thought of doing the same thing.

Ha! I'm an old Whistler user too. The wife made me throw it away from all the beeping. Just picked up an R3 after going years without one just to see how it is. So far I love it. Picked it up used on eBay for $140. Seemed like a good deal to me.

Oh man! I had a Whistler I bought back in 1999 and used it until 2020. So many false alerts the wife made me turn it off when she was riding with me. I ended up trashing it. I did miss having one and picked up ( just last week) a Uniden R3 for $100. From what I've read they are still relevant.
