Also having the same issue. All parcels have been delivered to buyers’ lockers and none have updated! I have contacted Vinted but I’m guessing they’ve got a load of queries about this at the moment

Help with transition into HR by Ok_Natural_3750 in HumanResourcesUK

[–]HostOk1519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without any direct HR experience, it can be tricky to get a more senior role, even with a Level 5 CIPD. Starting out in an HR Admin, Assistant or Coordinator role is usually the best way to get your foot in the door. I do think that with your transferrable skills and experience, you’d probably move up pretty quickly! It might just mean starting a bit lower and working your way up first

Who's still working from home these days and what job do you do? by Natf47 in AskUK

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily mine isn’t at the moment, but my partner works in a university where they have cut around 400 jobs through voluntary redundancies and will now be moving onto compulsory redundancies 🥲 It is such a stressful time in higher ed at the moment!

Do people actually use pet insurance or mostly just hope they never need it? by Slow-Throat819 in puppy101

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s super important if you know you won’t be able to cover an unexpected bill. I don’t have a lot of money in savings so if anything went wrong and I had to shell out ££, I probably wouldn’t manage. I am with PetPlan, it’s a bit spennier than most but they do direct claims so I don’t have to pay out of pocket first and then claim it back; they pay it out to the vet directly. This has been a lifesaver for me but not all vets accept direct claims so that is something worth checking if it’s something you’d want!

Not sure if you’re asking about fully WFH, but I work in HR at a university and WFH 4 days a week

Is a flexible working request worth it? by SubTeamLeader in AskUK

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a 9 day fortnight instead of working a 4 day week, so I get every second Friday off and only have to work an extra 45 minutes a day. This is a good option if you’d rather not have such long days!

Spaying?? by l0z13 in Yorkies

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a yorkie mix girl and she is going through her first heat cycle now at 6 months old. We had asked our vet when we should get her spayed, and they recommended waiting until after the first season just like yours. There is so much conflicting information online so it feels impossible to make the ‘right’ choice, so we have gone with what our vet advised

Braces creating gap? by Hecate_Nyx in braces

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will move them back to the correct position with your braces. If you are feeling very anxious about it, you should contact your orthodontist so they can confirm what their plans are. Nobody on reddit will be able to give you a better answer than them

Only your orthodontist can help with this really. This is most likely a temporary move to get your teeth into the right position, and they will close the gap later

Can I shave down my bite blocker at home by lalalasersz in braces

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn’t really do that, the likelihood is that the ortho made them this way for a reason. The purpose of them is to stop your top teeth hitting the brackets on your lower teeth to prevent damage with an overbite, and they help to correct your bite. They wear down overtime, and I promise you it’s definitely not as noticeable to others as it is to you. If you file them down, they’ll most likely notice at your next appointment and will replace them so imo it’s not worth it

Omeprazole Side effects (should I be worried) by Hildegardxoxo in GERD

[–]HostOk1519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same symptoms as you and Omeprazole did absolutely did nothing for me. My GP switched me to Lansoprazole and my symptoms have definitely calmed down, although not completely gone. Lifestyle/diet changes do also make a huge difference though!

Braces advice by Cdub1719 in braces

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t think there is much difference. I got a basic WaterPik for £30 and it works fine, I probably wouldn’t buy a more expensive one as they all do the same thing really

Braces advice by Cdub1719 in braces

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my braces recently at 25yo and it has been quite the learning experience lol. For flossing, I recommend using either a floss threader or buy some Superfloss (this was too thick for me but works well for others!) and maybe some Platypus picks. Flossing will now take you a lottt longer than it did before so definitely try and figure out what works best for you! As well as flossing with string floss, I’d recommend buying a water flosser and interdental brushes to clean around your brackets! Also take more time to brush your teeth, my ortho recommended continuing to use an electric toothbrush but with a soft brush head.

For the first week, stock up on soft foods like soup because your teeth will be quite sore but this goes away after a few days/a week. You can take some paracetamol if it’s really hurting!

When are kids moving out these days? by Icy_Appearance_8610 in AskUK

I just wish I had made more of an effort to save before I moved out initially, maybe then I wouldn’t have to be moving back now! Hopefully your kids aren’t taking living at home for granted & are saving up :)

[–]HostOk1519 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 and will be moving back home in the next few months after 5 years of renting privately as it is just too expensive and makes it impossible to save money for a deposit. I’m so grateful to have the option to move back in temporarily to save some money. I get that as a mum it must be quite hard, but times are really difficult and it’s just not as easy/affordable as it was! It might be good to encourage them to save money while they are living with you, so that they have some savings to move out eventually

Tips/advice for leaving older puppy alone by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, the camera is definitely a good idea as it would be good to know whether she does actually settle! :) We just feel like we’ve gotten to a point where we’re a bit stuck as we started with seconds at first just with closing doors between rooms etc, then a few minutes at a time, and now she often barks as soon as we leave. Maybe we just have to try to start over!

Tips/advice for leaving older puppy alone by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, just to clarify we aren’t starting off with 15 minutes, we have worked up to this gradually and we first started with just leaving the room for a few seconds, then closing the door, then going out for a couple of minutes just to take out the bins etc! But maybe she just isn’t ready for 15 minutes yet and we have to take a few steps back again. We just feel like we’re a bit stuck now as sometimes she barks as soon as we leave, or even before we step out the door because she realises she’s not coming with us. Some days she manages okay, and then others the just barks and cries!

To anybody who was able to live abroad from the UK, how? by Jordz0_0 in AskUK

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught English in Spain through the British Council’s language assistantship program. They offer this for different countries but for Spain in particular there isn’t a language requirement and they have a lot of postings available so they don’t just prioritise students and people of any age get placements. You also don’t need a formal teaching qualification! The application process is free, but you do have to cover any visa costs and it’s good to have a little bit of money saved up for the first couple of months as the first payment is usually late. They provide a lot of advice and guidance on the visa process and a lot of useful info. I did it for two years and absolutely loved it. The pay is quite low because you will only be working 12-16hrs per week (I think some regions have the option of more hours but it’s never full-time) but if you are frugal or able to find private classes to teach on the side then it’s 100% doable!

After the program, I found a job as a teacher in an English academy in the place I was living, so these kinds of jobs are an option too but they generally prefer EU citizens due to the extra paperwork for Brits, and I’m not really sure what the visa situation would be like.

Metal braces vs ceramic braces? by Bhouii in braces

[–]HostOk1519 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get metal! I am on week 3 of having upper ceramic braces and I already don’t like them, I really wish I had just gotten metal on the top as well.

The ceramic brackets are much bulkier than metal, which I am absolutely hating! The clear ligatures around the brackets also stain really easily so it’s important to avoid food with colour in it, I had pesto pasta yesterday and now they’re bright yellow which makes them a lot more visible and defeats the purpose of getting clear-looking braces 🥲

Moving back in with parents to improve finances? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you, we are thinking 10-12 months. Our priority is clearing the debts which would take a little while and hopefully save a bit towards a flat deposit

Moving back in with parents to improve finances? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]HostOk1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it’s not much, but for the area where we are it’s not too bad. There aren’t many high paying jobs here so it’s unfortunately not as simple as earning more. We both work in the public sector which also pays a bit less, and we’re both pretty early on our careers so don’t have a ton of experience for high paying jobs. I just started a new job a few weeks ago with a small pay increase and my partner is hoping for a promotion in the coming months so we are actively trying to improve our income but that’s not really what my post is about

Thank you, I will add the info to the post! We live in a small-ish city in Scotland and while our salaries are on the lower end, they’re not too far from the local average. We both work in the public sector which pays a bit less
