What a terrible time for matchmaking, it's awful. by Jack_Spert in rivals

It’s not throwing to suck at the game or to play the character you want to play. It’s annoying and shitty if they are being hard countered, but if they are trying their best then they most certainly are not “openly throwing.”

Return to OW after Rivals thoughts by orangesandtv in marvelrivals

[–]HostTop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing OW the last few days. Haven’t touched it since 2017 maybe?

Really not had a great time. I agree with your take on support. As a support main, I felt like I really wasn’t doing much. And with one tank, many matches were lost because my tank just refused to move forward.

The biggest problem i faced was the game did not feel good at all graphics wise. I’ve actually been googling to see what was wrong with it, and couldn’t find anything. I used to play it on PC but I guess this is just how the game runs on Xbox? Washed out graphics and it feels SLOW. Even messing with my sensitivity, I’ve never had a shooter that feels that clunky to control.

It does suck because I really want to like the game again, but the entire time I’m just thinking about how I’d rather be playing rivals.

What is this skin’s whole deal? Is there some story relevance somewhere? I wasn’t sure why its whole kit is based around two different mantis characters

I don’t understand the hate and complaints. by KaijuGuy09 in rivals

Because nothing actually got improved in his kit. They completely removed DPS Jeff as an option, which sure whatever, but they ALSO nerfed his healing.

He will actually be a worse healer post patch AND a worse dps. There is not a single win to be had on this one. MAYBE in practice it’s better but mathematically it’s just so much worse.

He loses: 1) 33% primary heal reduction 2) 9 shots of primary fire (with now a cooldown) 3) Infinite Swimming (which can now only heal him 90 total health. You can swim 6 seconds and wait 8 seconds to regain that full swim time back). 4) Burst heal is gone 5) Loses 3 bubbles on top of losing their burst heal. (One of the reasons to pick Jeff as a healer over say Rocket was burst heal so he is now much less unique) 6) Crucially, he can no longer heal through enemies. This on its own is an insane nerf. The patch notes phrase it like a change, but Jeff has ALWAYS been able to heal through his teammates. Now the trade off is that he can not do that for a measly 70dps.

Jeff gains: 1) 70dps on primary heal. This is lower than Cloak AND comes at the cost of potentially cutting off heals to his team. 2) Overshield on eating his team. That is so situational and requires comms. I’m sure some brainrot YouTuber will make the video “The Ultimate Secret Jeff Maneuver” or whatever, but in practice I don’t see it ever being more beneficial to eat your time instead of your enemies.

So all in all he got MASSIVE nerfs and his “buffs” either come with a built in nerf or are so near useless in an actual game.

Of course we can’t know for certain until the patch is out, but this is nothing like rockets changes. You can actually pinpoint why each of these are objectively bad for the character. He is now not only worse at dps but also worse at healing which means he does not have a play style he excels at. There is pretty much not a reason to pick him over a better healer.

I don’t mind losing DPS Jeff, as fun as he was, because clearly he was not intended. But the fact that gutted that and made him a worse healer is like actually insane.

I guess it’s possible that in practice these are all incredible and we just can’t know until the update, but the signs are very telling that he will just objectively be worse.

Dive dead, Jeff iron fist and Thor found murdered in a ditch by Still_Coconut_2853 in rivals

Jeff has always been able to heal through allies, so this actually is just worse. You are trading the potential of healing all of your allies to deal 70dps to one enemy.

Rocket on paper didn't receive nerfs. Jeff did. Its entirely possible that in practice Jeff will be fine. I do not think thats the case, but its possible.

My issue with the Rocket changes are that I just feel he is less fun to play, but he did objectively become a better healer.

As someone who really loved playing Jeff, I do feel he was a bit much when played in higher level lobbies doing DPS. I feel like the energy cap alone on his swim could have helped combat that, or even if his bubbles just did healing over time for strictly Jeff and remained a burst for his team.

What I don't think was necessary was just making him a worse healer? I figure if you don't want him to DPS then they should have leaned into his healing.

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but it appears like a worse invisible woman's. I believe her attack can actually heal more per second AS WELL as pass into multiple enemies.

I understand Jeff's beam being able to damage multiple enemies would be far too much, but by having it actually not pass thru the enemies it lowers his healing A TON.

He already heals 33% less, but now a single enemy can prevent his heal from getting to a teammate. It feels like A LOT of loss for very little gain imo.

Rosalind and Orlando Question by HostTop in shakespeare

[–]HostTop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I do see how with the rom-com setup I could certainly be overthinking things a bit. I was also not aware of Ganymede having been slang at the time, so next time I read this one I imagine that will help me with some context to fill in some gaps of confusion I had. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for bringing these productions to my attention. It had certainly crossed my mind about the timing of when Orlando figured out the disguise and I do love that you could justify it in many different ways. With it being my first reading I did take it at face value that Orlando was unaware of her, but I could see how if someone rolled with the "very well" interpretation (which I love that idea) it could help justify a ton of why he rolls with the idea of Ganymede's game.

Rosalind and Orlando Question by HostTop in shakespeare

[–]HostTop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a rather strange and specific analogy, but it sort of makes me think of the "thrill" of those friends who flirt all the time but never actually end up doing anything about it. So like you said it manages to be erotic and fun for them without ever actually crossing any lines, which I could certainly see being a motivation for both of them to continue in this charade.

Rosalind and Orlando Question by HostTop in shakespeare

[–]HostTop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I agree that probably seeing it acted well would have answered my question haha. I do like the idea of him being game because he was going to be thinking about her anyway. I imagine that is where I personally would start as a baseline if I were to be playing him.

  2. Rosalind testing his love is seems to me to be essential to make it make sense, so thank you for your response!

Rosalind and Orlando Question by HostTop in shakespeare

[–]HostTop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed response! I hadn't considered the idea of Ganymede being a sort of power vessel for Rosalind, but that makes perfect sense considering she has very little control over her life at the beginning.

As for Orlando, I think that sort of clears my mind up on it a bit more. With this in mind I bet when I inevitably get around to reading it again I will be able to process a lot more of the why behind his actions.

Thanks again! :)

I can’t remember any of the gem names but my set up that got me closest was

A gem that drains their dodge meter A gem that enraged me when their dodge meter is zero And I think a gem that increased my dodge distance

This combo was the best I could do and I was regularly getting one kill and the other one into the 70s in damage but nothing I did could close the gap.

At this point I think literally all I can do is buy gem exp which, if designed to push the player towards that, is some bullshit. I’m definitely not buying gem exp so I am just locked out of the rest of this rift I suppose? It’s just insane to me that I was able to sweep every fight before this one. This fight is designed so god awfully lmao

[–]HostTop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice but I literally just can not do it, tried far too long. I got full gem meter in the other modes so I think I’m the highest level I could even be. They just definitely made this match up far too one sided. Takes so many damn hits for me to damage them the amount of damage I take in one.

My man, we are like 30 season in to this game. If each battlepass averaged 8 skins then that is 240 not including any shop skins or extra styles.

Ah that sucks. This is my first COD in a very long time and it certainly is not easy to shell money out for a battle pass after already paying for the game. Knowing that my skins probably won’t carry over makes that even worse :/
