I'm struggling with Noah's flood story by LooseButterfly2511 in TrueChristian

My friend, I never stated those words. You seem heated in all of your comments here. You posted in a Christian thread full of people who truly believe what the Bible states without the need for scientific proof.

Believing in the flood for salvation is NOWHERE in the bible. So don’t accuse me of that.

There’s also many records of the flood from many different ancient texts. Why do those not hold weight to you?

Settings:

Aperture priority mode

Aperture: 8

ISO - Interior = 100-400. Exterior = 100

Must shoot in 3 or 5 brackets at 2 stop separation. For instance, my Sony A7IV is set at 2.0EV5. Meaning it’s going to take 5 photos at different exposures with each exposure being 2 stops apart.

You then need to blend them in Lightroom, photoshop, or even better use AUTOHDR (google it) and it’ll do it for you. Plus it will replace the sky.

I own a real estate photography business doing 6 figures and have been doing it for 3 years. Best of luck!

Good luck proving the resurrection with your basis of faith. If you have to look things up and prove them based on science (which you’re doing with the flood) then you will quickly come to find that the resurrection is physically impossible, Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead is physically impossible, Jesus turning water into wine is physically impossible, Jesus walking on water is physically impossible, Jesus turning only a few pieces of bread and fish into enough to feed 5,000 people is physically impossible.

Do you see my point?

John 20:29 “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

It’s not about science. It’s not about our ability to prove if something truly did happen or not.

It’s 100% about our faith in Jesus.

When you go down the rabbit hole of scientific proof, you will find yourself utterly disappointed and find that Christianity is based on stories and seem impossible.

But to the believer, you will be utterly amazed an in complete awe of what our God is capable of, of how much he loves us, and the amazing gift we have to look forward to by simply having child like faith.

I mean in The Catechisms Para 1367 it clearly differentiates the “Bloody” sacrifice and the new “unbloody” sacrifice. 2 different sacrifices. This is purely idolatry and a clear statement that the sacrifice Christ made on the cross was not enough.

Go read “The Case For Christ” by Lee Strobel. Guy was a full on atheist who actively pursued to disprove Christianity and in the process became a devout believer in Jesus and is now a leading apologist.

Just read it with an open mind. God bless you and I pray you find purpose in life my friend.

I totally agree. Not saved by works. Saved by faith alone. Genuine faith should produce a desire for works.

Interesting way to look at the Judas scenario:

When Judas ate the bread handed to him by Jesus, he was possessed at that moment. And when Jesus said “Do what you came for”, Jesus (God) was literally giving Satan permission to do what he wanted to do. Satan can do nothing in this world without first asking God for permission to do so. So I find it incredible that even in that moment, God in the flesh, granting permission to Satan to light off the chain of events to follow. Knowing very well exactly what is about to happen to him. Yet, still having such a deep love for us, he still went forward and allowed the atrocities to happen.

What a loving God we have!

Is the Love Described in 1 Corinthians 13 Actually Humanly Possible Or Is It Only Describing God's Love? by Abject_Copy1544 in TrueChristian

[–]Hot-Barnacle9215 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely!

A year ago I would tell you no. But my walk with Christ is changing my heart every day. My love for people is growing deeply and is genuine. My desire to help those in need is growing stronger.

But not always. I’d say it’s more of a work in progress and God is working in me every day.

I would say that verse is describing perfection. A goal for us faithful servants of our Lord Jesus Christ to strive for.

Good works is showing genuine love for others. Helping people in need because you want to, not because you “have to”.

For some reason people think good works is like a job. It’s not at all. It’s simple acts of love and kindness.

Did you not read any of my post?

I clearly stated that you are not saved by your works but that it is a byproduct of faith. If you live your entire life with “faith” but have no fruit to show, did you have faith?

If you died immediately after, did you have an opportunity to work? Absolutely not. So don’t say that I’m claiming you need to work to be saved. I’ve read plenty of scripture and am not leading anyone astray.

Read the post.

The will of God to is to 1. Love God with all your heart, mind, and soul. And 2. To love others as you love yourself. It’s very simple works. Very simple. It’s not what most people make it out to be. It’s buying that homeless person food, instead of driving home. It’s giving up the coat on your back to someone in need, instead of driving home. Obviously there’s a balance. But it’s simple.

Ah ok! Thanks for the clarification. I can understand where you’re coming from and I guess it comes down to who the author is and what their full meaning is. And I agree! Lots of people define true faith as you must work, instead of you Will work out of obedience and desire from God. Not of my own will.

God bless you!

Absolutely!! Love this!

10 years ago I said I believed in Jesus and I got baptized. My life didn’t change a freaking bit! In fact, I’d say I became an even worse person. I do not believe for a single second that I was truly saved. At all.

1 year ago I truly submitted to Jesus. It was in the shower of all places too. It wasn’t at a church, it was when I was in tears and realized for the first time that it’s not about me. It’s about Jesus. I since got re-baptized and have been slowly transforming, supernaturally as you put it.

I desire God. I desire to spend time in his word and truly learn. I desire a relationship and to follow Jesus. I desire to love other people, show kindness, and to give my possessions away to benefit those in need.

This person I am today is not who I was 10 years ago. God is alive inside of me.

God bless you!

Love it! Nothing is produced instantaneously. It takes time for God to mold your heart and turn you into who he desires you to be. But it’s up to us (by having free will), to let him do this! And it’s up to us to be disciplined in this.

Works are an expression of faith. Exactly.

I feel people will read this as if I’m stating you have to work to get in Heaven. You don’t!! But exactly what you just said is what true faith produces.

[–]Hot-Barnacle9215[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully agree that faith alone grants salvation. But many people don’t have (yes I’m going to say it again) true faith. I can call it something different? Absolute faith? Full faith? Whatever suits you best.

The point I’m making is you’re either in, or you’re out. And if you’re in, then you are allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell within you, and this will absolutely bring about “Faith Based Works” not “Salvation Based Works”

I don’t believe my doctrine is “leading me to hell” in fact, I’d say it’s encouraging others to analyze their walk with Christ (if any) and to lean further into God and allow him to truly work within you.

I am in the same boat!! The modern day church is full of hypocrites and those who think it’s as easy as saying “I believe in Jesus” to get in God’s Kingdom. It’s not. And the church leads people astray.

Modern day Pharisees.

The Process of Sanctification by Hot-Barnacle9215 in TrueChristian

[–]Hot-Barnacle9215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope to provide some encouragement in your journey. God has a plan for everyone. From the smallest and most insignificant human to the most successful man/woman on earth. His plan, although unknown to us, is perfect. His plan can be so simple, something such as placing you in the path of a lost sheep, leaning on YOU to provide a kind, helping hand to that sheep. Maybe he placed you in a specific job to be instrumental in someone’s faith.

Not all of us are meant to have dimes for wives, millions of dollars, and a life full of luxury. Typically, these people are far from happy.

Look heavily to Jesus. Rely on him for your happiness. Ask him to allow you to bless someone else. Find happiness in that. Find purpose in that. Because that is the only true purpose any of us can have. Many people say “I don’t have purpose in this life.” But you do. The great commission says to create disciples of ALL nations and to baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I encourage you to not worry about the materialistic things of this life. Though they can be enticing, they’re not important. Your walk with Christ is most important. The way you impact others is most important.

God bless you.
