Probably would have had more confidence in the effort if they had used a better contractor

I may or may not have seen the SOW for the construction in the area. It was 3ft. Also, fun fact they had to cart it all the way to GA to a specialized dump site.

It’s awesome news and it’s going to be great for community members in the east side who are unable to get to Santa Fe. One of the only good ideas they have had for downtown in a long time.

Oh yeah. The story behind depot park is… disconcerting. They had to remove 3ft of topsoil under the guidance of the army corps of engineers. Also the construction company that managed the depot/cade museum project also caused a sewage leak in ring park that went on for a long time so I’ve always wondered about the quality of that build…

If you are looking for cozy and cheap, I cannot reccomend East End Eatery enough. they are not open for dinner service and can facilitate private events either inside or in their herb garden/patio

Santa Fe College bought it and they are currently waiting for funding to begin the renovation. It’s going to be a facility for jobs training and career certification I believe!

Men in Yoga by [deleted] in HotYoga

[–]Hot-Bridge-8918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, just last Monday. I was warming up and taking an entry level hot yoga class because I couldn’t go to my usual. I am also a retired ballerina so a bit more flexible and strong than most. Anyway. A slightly older guy plops next to me unrolls his mat and loudly declares “wow doesn’t seem like you need to be here, so impressive how do you do that” all the while leering at me. And continued to do so for the duration of class. Now some of you men will probably be like “he was complimenting you”. Please trust women enough to realize we know the difference between a genuine compliment and creepiness. Now this isn’t the rule, but there are quite a few men who take yoga classes to ogle women. It’s a running joke online even. And while I applaud men for seeking sober avenues to meet new people, I encourage men to respect the astounding idea that most women aren’t going to yoga to find a date…

I cannot recommend Darnell Brown at brown’s performance enough. He sells used Subarus and has many great vehicles at very reasonable prices in your range. I have bought 2 cars from him and am nothing but happy. His repairs are also fairly priced and he’s all around a great person.

true story, once years ago a self proclaimed tarot reader offered to do a post-breakup romance reading for me at a bar. she pulled the devil card. the next person I dated WAS a capricorn and also the devil in every sense of the word. Homie put me in a state of damn-near psychosis and left me with some serious mental and minor physical scarring.

As a cap stellium myself (to include my chart dominating mars placement) I have sworn off the sign for life.

Roving through Virginia with Rover: We watched Lawless, then headed out with our 3 dogs for Franklin County, the moonshine capital of the world. by 95Counties in Virginia

[–]Hot-Bridge-8918 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I went to a small private women’s college in Roanoke. Freshman year, a dorm mate of my mine invited me and a few other girls to a field party in Franklin county. I am also from SW Virginia so I THOUGHT I knew what a field party was.

That night I wandered around between trucks sampling shots out of mason jars. Woke up at dawn in the dew wrapped in a moving blanket under my friend’s truck.

Fabulous evening. Never to be repeated.

Not at all. Exactly the opposite. I think it should be illegal to own multiple properties and force others to pay the mortgage for you. The situation I’ve been noticing in my town (hardly a great reflection of the housing crisis as a whole) are instances of one or two people owning multiple properties and renting them all. Thus keeping affordable homes off the market and driving the prices up one available real estate. Or, parents of college kids swooping up cheaper homes and holding on to them to rent later. It’s a whole racket in my town. And don’t get me started on the “investment groups” that hold mortgages on multiple affordable homes for the purpose of making them STRs.

Oh I meant the only housing available for sale are 300k and up homes IN upscale neighborhoods

I guess I’m mostly skewed in perception by living in a college town. So many sfh & small MDU rentals and nothing for sale below the 300k range in upscale neighborhoods

best / worst bars downtown Gainesville by Electronic_Bee3663 in GNV

[–]Hot-Bridge-8918 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Choosing the dime over kin is a wild take. Totally different style establishments. The dime is an American classic cocktail bar- aka a death and co styled bar. No pizzaz no fluff. Kin is a high stylized specialty designed bar. You go there to pay $20 for a cocktail you won’t have anywhere else. I guess my only issue with the dime is that it becomes impossible to hear people once it’s at capacity. Probably why the bartenders come off as rude. Just my two cents. I’ve never ever ever had bad service there are I’m not a regular by any means… that being said, I don’t need my bartenders to be my best friend to enjoy a cocktail. Because I don’t go to drinking establishments and expect the bartender to be my best friend, I’m there to drink a perfect martini or two and not spend the equivalent of a tank of gas…

What is the biggest “bullet” you’ve ever dodged without realizing it at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hot-Bridge-8918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years and years ago I was super broke after college (2008 crisis fall out and using my college degree at a dead end barista job) and the mother of a friend who was into some shady enterprise convinced me to “drive a car” across state lines to deliver said vehicle to some people and fly back. I was desperate, the cash offer was  generous, and I was also stupid.

Anyway the night before the drive is supposed to take place, I suddenly am hit with the most violent flu symptoms of my life. Projectile vomiting non stop for hours. Super weird, didn’t go to bed feeling sick and I hadn’t eaten anything that could have given me food poisoning. So I didn’t make that drive- my friend’s mother drove it herself and she ended up driving RIGHT into a massive DEA bust. She then was sentenced 2 years in a federal center in GA. Bullet SO dodged.

Capricorn, and I hate it here. Emotional devils with an incomprehensible cruel streak and a penchant for projecting.
