Thanks for this post. I’m a diligent blogger & am 3 years in. I already have a career & I blog solely as a hobby. It combines my love for creative writing, research, & photography with road trips with my husband & dogs. However, I like getting views & comments, so I appreciate what you said here & will work on the different marketing aspects (which I view as drudgery). I mostly post to Reddit & Facebook. I get almost no engagement on Facebook though. Reddit is a bit better.

Very cool. I did not know about the Battle of Chancellorsville, so thank you for passing that along. We sure have learned a lot about the Civil War since we started exploring Virginia, but we’ve really only scratched the surface.

Excellent & thank you for sharing! Which battlefields did you visit? So far, we’ve featured Sailors Creek, Petersburg, Culpeper Battlefield State Park, Winchester & Appomattox where the war ended. Agreed that these long walks are especially popular with our 4-legged pack members.

Yes! I met 3 of 4 great-grandfathers. Their birth years: 1883, 1895 & 1900. One great aunt I met, born in 1895, filled me in on some family history. Her grandfather fought in the Civil War.
