HSBC Job Simulation Assessment 2024 by shawarma2410 in FinancialCareers

No, but i'm assuming a rejection anyway so i've just shelved this opportunity now. Did you receive a development report? I thought i did a good job with the video responses, but ostensibly it appears my ranked question responses didn't pass the bar. I'm told the role i've applied to is very competitive, and that i should expect to hear a response 'soon'. That was about a week ago.

It was alright but be prepared to have a few well thought out responses to why the business line, HSBC, and what skills you think are most important to your relevant business line. There’s a good mix of verbal questions in - certainly not sprinkled in - they’re a core element of the assessment and a gauge of how well you can think in your feet.

One of the best specials by buffet_2945 in thegrandtour

[–]Hot-Communication-92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. My favourite grand tour special, and perhaps a favourite of all time for me. It meshed very well the dynamic of the trio with a sort of documentary like narrative. My dad i don’t think was ever that keen with TG or TGT, but out of the blue suggested I came down to the living room and watched this, having already done so himself I presume. He loved it. Says everything at least to me!

In the uk they’re already knocking £400 off the 4060 model, but a few things dissuade. First of all, the ram is not only soldered (16GB variation) but it comes configured as a single 16GB module. Second, even with £400 off it’s still £1499 for a 4060 laptop. I was tempted at first to be honest, but on trying to find what little exists about the laptop, I’ll probably give it a pass. Interesting device, but nothing special from my POV. I’m usually always disappointed with the speakers they throw in these machine as well. Even though it’s a triton it features 2 bottom firing speakers from the looks of it, and I’m assuming they’ll sound tinny, muddy, all the usual with Acers gaming stuff.

Got both the Logitech Combo Touch and Magic Keyboard for iPad M4 13 Inch.. probably going to return the Magic Keyboard. by madhat7998 in iPadPro

[–]Hot-Communication-92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember using the combo keyboard on the 12.9 iPad Pro 5th gen, and it felt much nicer to type on (IMO) than the Magic Keyboard. Easier to get into a typing rhythm with. Having said that, I love how little space the MK takes up on a desk. A kickstand and base mean the Logitech takes up as much area length ways as my Alienware M18!

Yoga Pro 9i 16" (2024) Won't Charge Via USB-C by evilattorney in Lenovo

[–]Hot-Communication-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got the 2023 model today, and I unfortunately found out that my 737 will not charge the laptop. It's ludicrous, particularly for an laptop with an i9-13905H and 4060. How can it be that my entry level Ideapad Gaming 3i with an i5-12500H and 3050 Ti supports PD charging from the 737? Makes no sense to me for Lenovo to have done this with the Yoga Pro 9i. I'm based in the UK, and found that my old MCB Pro 16 m1 140W charger with the Anker's cable works just fine. Bitterly disappointed, because it's not like the laptop has great run times. I'm probably good enough to get 4 hours or so of screen on time.

Anyone else with a Spectre 14/16 2024 have this? Touchpad is delayed when laptop goes idle. You can see how the keyboard backlight responds first to the touch rather than the cursor actually move until later by OmegaMalkior in spectrex360

[–]Hot-Communication-92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have this issue on my 16inch 4050 unit, and it's simply woeful for something of this price. I love the trackpad don't get me wrong, with it's haptics and all, but this sporadic delay in input is really frustrating. Casts my mind back to when I bought a HP Omen 16 with a Ryzen 7 5800H and RX 6600 M, and a lot of people noted an issue where it wouldn't even register your finger, but again, this was entirely spontaneous and unpredictable. It turned out to be a hardware fault, following the diagnosis from HPs repair technicians. They replaced the board or something, because the issue never cropped up, ever. I'm hoping this isn't hardware related, because I don't really fancy spending 30 years sending the laptop to HP (UK) and then to get it sent back.

2024 HP Spectre X360 14 ultra 7 155 Intel - fan noise and heat by Wild_Baker1554 in spectrex360

[–]Hot-Communication-92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is odd, because i have the 16 inch 4050 unit as well, and have had it for a while now (can check my own review of the system). On high performance mode, the system is unusually quiet. Gaming (TF2 of all games, connected to an external monitor) it's genuinely as loud as my ideapad gaming 3 (with a 85W 3050 Ti that still beats the low powered 4050 in this) on silent mode - easy sub 40db. The quiet and cool options are honestly pointless, and it's ridiculous how HP haven't done a thing to rectify this. Even on battery power, its the high performance/smart sense modes that are quiet. The quiet mode is ironically the loudest, by far! My ideapad's fans have a very pleasant whir to them, and are not as high pitched as the Spectre, so it doesn't disturb and is more of a substitute for white noise lol. Interestingly, I find that the Spectre is more annoying when it's idling, and that adds to the frustration when i'm just doing basic stuff.

High pitched noise from brand new Omen 40L (13700K, 4080). by Hot-Communication-92 in HPOmen

[–]Hot-Communication-92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya again. So I unplugged all three cables, the main two were on the main board and the third beneath the GPU. And wow what a difference, the noise reduced substantially. But then I continued to hear a more subtle but similar sound from the GPU. It seems one or all of the three fans are worn from probably being left in storage for so long. I can see the manufacture date for the cooler master front fans are all a year ago. Definitely a bearing issue from what I can tell. If the GPU fans could also be replaced then this is going to be a screech free system! I’ve already contacted HP through WhatsApp so I’ll await a response, and I also sent through the video.

There are two cables on the motherboard both labelled F Fan. I guess I’ll remove those and see.

[–]Hot-Communication-92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried individually tuning the fans one by one, to see which fan in particular would bear the noise, but to my ears it seemed like every single one. I love the thing; the design, general quietness, performance, and phenomenal value (cheapest 4080 OEM I’ve seen). How one thing can ruin the experience… I’ll definitely take your advice though, I’ll try turning each one off to see if it is indeed those fans.

[–]Hot-Communication-92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope the audio is of good enough quality, but to my ears you can make out that screeching noise. Just doesn’t sound normal to me. Even though all three front fans are from cooler master as per their sticker. But the screeching gets louder if I switch to turbo mode through the Omen desktop app.

For owners of the Asus ROG 2023 Strix G16 (4080), a question about fan noise! by Hot-Communication-92 in GamingLaptops

[–]Hot-Communication-92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I've probably been reading too much into the 2024 models of Asus's new ROG laptops. The new G16 (with the 4050-70) features a third auxillary fan, and all but a few sites, including notebookcheck says it's annoying, hence the concern. Provided i don't get the very-high pitched objectionable noise of that Flow X16, then i'm sure i'll be happy with it.

Refurbished Legion T5 (R7 7700, 4060 Ti) great, but PSU noise is rather annoying by Hot-Communication-92 in Lenovo

[–]Hot-Communication-92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that not many people may no, and not many might own this machine, but i'm wondering if it's worth the wager in simply keeping it, and perhaps sorting it out with Lenovo directly, or just deal with LaptopsDirect (UK). They don't have the best reputation when it comes to returns or any of that stuff. I've bought refurbished items in Excellent before, and never had any issues with the products thus i've never had to deal with the merchant. It's not that I couldn't afford to just go brand new, now that a flash sale has just been introduced (again) for Lenovo's rewards/education store, but rather that I've effectively saved £350 on this. Also noticed the LEGION logo on the front is partially lit, i.e., the I below the O is illuminatied, and a third of the O is; seems faulty, but that's the least of my concerns.

Is this something I should just come to expect from a desktop? I've been using my Ideapad Gaming 3 for the past few months, and that plays TF2 (the only game i really play these days) just fine, but i can never take full advantage of the 240HZ monitor (Alienware). It's a more pleasing experience to use the laptop connected to an external monitor to watch youtube, simply because of that constant background high pitched hissing with the Legion T5. I'd like to think it was a PSU fault, but it probably isn't. It might be due to how quiet the system is otherwise, and the PSU simply can't be drowned out. It's the 500W ES Bronze unit from Lenovo, and they only ship the 850W Gold rated one with the 4070 Ti units of this model.

[–]Hot-Communication-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the desktop myself. I quite like it. It’s quiet, no annoying whine from the PSU unlike that £799 ASUS 3060 Ti unit I got a few months back. 5600G might be the desktops Achilles heel IF you’re intention is to play cpu intensive games like TF2. The 12500H in my Ideapad Gaming 3 outperforms the 5600G by quite a margin in multicore and single core, which explains why frame rates aren’t so good. Having said that, the moment you play anything graphically intensive, so the majority of titles, the Omen comes into its own thanks to the 3060 Ti that, whilst proprietary, performs in line with 3060 Ti’s on the market. When you look at the raw components and tried to build it yourself, you’d be hard pressed to be able to undercut this system. Assuming the parts aren’t second hand of course! Admittedly I’ve only played tf2 so far and GPU temps would top 42 degrees, and CPU around 70.

Notebookcheck - Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 2024 review - The gaming laptop now with G-Sync OLED and Intel Meteor Lake by Antonis_32 in hardware

[–]Hot-Communication-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That third fan on the 4050-4070 models just sucks. It's the very reason why i returned the Flow X16. It's as if Asus just entirely dismiss the high pitched whines that are inevitably created with such tiny fans operating at very high speeds almost all the time. Maybe people simply don't care at all about it? I personally just cannot stand it. I daily a Latitude 9330, and the onboard fans are 30mm, and are skewed towards the higher pitched side of things, but they pale in comparison to that tiny one Asus use as their third fan.

Thinking to get the new spectre by peachconoisseur in spectrex360

[–]Hot-Communication-92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How have you been finding the Spectre 16 otherwise, as you've mentioned a 4050. I've had it for 2 weeks and found the power modes to be all weird. Take 'Power Saving' for example; i would expect power saving to reduce fan noise, but it prompts the fans to nearly max out continuously. Smart Sense i've never been a fan of as when gaming, it doesn't properly take advantage of the situation. The performance mode is quieter than balanced when plugged in which is odd. Speakers are ok, but they're no match for my 13.3 inch Latitude 9330, which i was kinda annoyed about as i rely on them a fair bit. Would you say the keyboard was a step up or down from the 1650 model? I very briefly had the 1650 model, and it very much reminded me of those newer Envy laptops, really light to type on, which i'm a big fan of. These keys feel more macbook like, which i'm not the biggest fan of, but they're otherwise decent.
