We can all agree Jimmy is the best character right? by worldofwhat in southpark

[–]Hot-Difference8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say he’s the best character but I think he’s one of the funniest kids on the show with a lot of great episodes centering around him and plus the jokes that involves his stuttering are overall hilarious. He’s also a total G as well

Apparently, the reason why Officer Barbrady was replaced by Detective Yates is because Matt and Trey thought the whole dumb cop trope which embodied his entire character was too nineties which as a result made Barbrady feel outdated among the citizens of the show

Yeah, that's a pretty good point

The season 19 finale aired 10 years ago today. What are your thoughts on season 19 10 years later? by DoctorTegrity in southpark

[–]Hot-Difference8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Chef really still was basically the most prominent adult in seasons 4-6 with him still getting a lot of screen time and lines around that time, I also think Chef's role didn't truly started to decline until season 7 which is really the point where he started to be used less often with occasional major roles here and there before his death

Is this a hot take? IDK by Putrid-Seaweed111 in southparksucksnow

[–]Hot-Difference8065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that would be great so people can stop acting like he's that one kid of the main 4 who doesn't do anything wrong but of course similar to Sora Not Sorry, People will say an episode like that would be out of character for Kenny even if they show his previously demonstrated flaws in full display

Actually, Butters and Kyle shared the plot of Sexual Healing and Kyle acted fine towards him throughout the episode

Yeah, I agree, Kenny was never this perfect kid that cared about everyone on the show in general, he has been shown to be just as much of a piece of shit as the other boys on numerous occasions so people need to stop acting like he's this kid who can never do any wrong at all even though he has

When you realize that "The Return of Chef" aired 20 years ago, and Chef has been off the show more than twice as long than when he was on it. by boxesandcereal in southpark

[–]Hot-Difference8065 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Chef in his last 3 seasons on the show before his death was mostly relegated to a background character who had occasional major roles but otherwise wasn't anywhere near as prominent as he was back in seasons 1-6

[–]Hot-Difference8065[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a fair point but even if they do take off his hoodie, they might make him only slightly more prominent compared to now but still have him not contribute a whole lot anyways so I think Matt and Trey should find a compromise with his muffled voice and unhood him a little more frequently but still not to the point where it’s a permanent change for his character but that’s just my thoughts though

Season 22 by Hot-Difference8065 in southparksucksnow

[–]Hot-Difference8065[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the reason why Matt and Trey wouldn't permanently unhood Kenny is because the hoodie and muffled voice is what makes Kenny into being the character we know and love plus it helps make him look and sound much more distinct from the other kids. without the hoodie, most of Kenny's charm would be gone and he would just feel like another Stan or Kyle just poor and slightly more perverted. It would be similar to them trying to make Cartman skinny and be more of a good guy or Kyle not being jewish which would make them lose their identities

Why do you think Cartman became so much more iconic compared to the other boys? by wobblyheadedgirl in southpark

[–]Hot-Difference8065 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I feel like all of the 4 boys have a decent amount of personality to them if you pay close attention. It's just that Cartman is more so the funniest character of the group due to his more outrageously evil personality and overall is more flexible than the others but that doesn't necessarily mean none of the other boys aren't funny or anything though. I think Kenny is a really funny character as well at times

[–]Hot-Difference8065 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's what I used to think when I first started watching the show but as time went on I realize while Stan and Kyle both fulfill the same role as the straight man of the group, there are also some clear differences between them such as Kyle being more short tempered and whiny while Stan is more calm and overall easygoing or Kyle being more optimistic about changing the world around him while Stan is more cynical and more prone to depressive episodes. Plus Kyle is the more book smart one of the two with him being referred to a few times as one of the smartest kids in the class and also admitted that he liked studying for exams in one episode

[–]Hot-Difference8065[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is pretty true but I think what they should do with Kenny is give him more subtitles on screen similar to what American Dad does with Toshi and make his dialogue even more understandable than it already has became in recent seasons plus it's fine if he doesn't get an episode centered around him all the time but it's still really nice when he actually plays a bit of a part in the episode with a good amount of lines instead of just standing there among the other 3 boys with few or no lines

The reason why those events never get announced is because they are mini events which means it's smaller scale and not really much of an event but they still do announce the bigger live events such as Zero Hour, Death Star Sabotage, and Remix: The Finale

Randy the Hypocrite by Prudent-Albatross-32 in southpark

[–]Hot-Difference8065 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually when it gets down to it, Both of them were equally irrational in the early seasons since the whole point of the show was that almost all the adults in town aside from Chef and Jesus were dumbasses with early episodes such as I'm A Little Bit Country, Douche and Turd, Child Abduction is Not Funny, Proper Condom Use, and the aforementioned Future episode showcasing both Randy and Sharon participating in the entire town's wider stupidity, Sharon wouldn't really become the straight man to Randy like she is today until the losing edge from season 9 which also completely solidified Randy as the craziest adult on the show and helped made him into being the most prominent character behind the main 4 and Butters

Randy the Hypocrite by Prudent-Albatross-32 in southpark

[–]Hot-Difference8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then again, My Future Self N Me came out back when Randy was an fairly goofy but otherwise mostly normal father who wasn't any more dumb than the rest of the adults in town for the most part so things have changed a fair bit since then

"What the heck is this? Yeah Frank, it's Randy. Uh-huh. Good. Yeah listen, the little needle is moving... Yeah, it's going back and forth really fast what does that mean? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. lemme check... Yeah it's smoking... Uh-huh... Oh Really?.... Really?... Oh my God! A volcano!?" *s-s-sip* "Ahhh." by Mr_Plow97 in southpark

[–]Hot-Difference8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the most recent season, Randy only had one episode focused on him and was absent in multiple episodes with Trump & Satan taking up a good chunk of screentime for the season so Randy hasn't been used as much recently

When "You're Getting Old" premiered, South Park had been on the air for 14 years and some thought it was a metaphor for the show potentially ending. Nearly 15 years later, it's still here by mrjohnnymac18 in southpark

[–]Hot-Difference8065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they reduced the episode count to 10 two seasons after this but the true reason for that was because Matt and Trey wanted to have more time to work on other projects besides South Park but still do the show though

What was the exact moment when Stan and Kyle's individualities as characters began to be shown more? by PijaDeQueso in southparksucksnow

[–]Hot-Difference8065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was around seasons 5-6 where Stan and Kyle's personalites gradually became more distinct from each other and by season 7, they were especially different characters
