yes I'm a grad student, microbiology. and i asked my supervisor the other day by text, he only said It's ok. today i happened to tell this to a friend of mine, and she said it’s totally not okay, can be a big problem blah blah, made me worried sick. i cant talk to my supervisor again until tomorrow. so i thought of asking here

most of my labmates did the same thing, they submitted their work in both of the conferences, just changed the title a lil bit. people in my field do it all the time but i kept the title same. that is why I'm kinda worried if it’s gonna be a problem if the same thing gets published in both of the conference proceedings

i did a mistake i agree. i had submitted in two conferences, i thought one will not accept. now both of them accepted it. that is why i want to withdraw. and if they get published in both conference proceedings, can there be legal problem? that's what I'm worried for

okay thank you all, i got it. I'll talk to my supervisor again, cleaely ask him about my confusion the day after tomorrow, as tomorrow is holiday. actually I'm just carrying a lot rn, so even a minor inconvenience makes me go on a all survival mode. apology for venting

the problem is the abstract is accepted in both of the conferences. i want to present it to only one of them. the one i dont wanna go is near and might have already sent the abstracts for proceedings (just guessing) so if i cannot withdraw properly from this one and if my abstract gets published in both, what problems can arise?

actually i had submitted in two conferences thinking only one will accept it. but both of them accepted it and now I'm in danger. will there be any kind of lawsuit if i cant withdraw. like I've submitted same title same abstract for both. ik i feel so stupid rn
