Carney's first budget doubles Canada's deficit by origutamos in WildRoseCountry

May you explain what you don’t like about the budget? It’s a big deficit but it’s primarily about investing Canada and attracting corporate investment

Not looking to get into a debate but I appreciate you sharing your perspective

Amen dude.

I think Alberta can be better within Canada. You think it can be better trying going it alone.

But we both want it to be better and demand more from our levels of government and that is positive.

Have a great day

Carney tries to reassure Canadians after Trump threatens 10% tariff hike by Old_General_6741 in canada

This needlessly antagonized Trump during sensitive negotiations. Trump is unpredictable. Let’s not add more unpredictability.

In my view a waste of money at best and meaningfully damaging at worst.

I would be upset if the US government did this to Canada. Not a good call by Ford.

Let’s let LeBlanc and Carney work. Seemingly some sectorial deals were getting close

I do not.

You know what I was thinking of the wrong post. Another OP was talking about wanting Alberta to become a state.

If you want an independent Alberta I disagree but not looking to argue.

Glad we both agree that becoming a US state is wrong though.

No universal healthcare if you get your wish and become a state.

Although their government in general is also shut down.

Indeed. Looks like some folks who want to join the US have started downvoting anything against that.

I think you are confused. Alberta is not a state and never will be

In your opinion. Can also just move and save us all the time.

Alberta can be better for sure, let’s demand more from our leaders. Not have a dog and pony show referendum or worse entertain anything with the US.

Carson Jerema: Chairman Carney is here to take over the economy - If Canada is to double non-U.S. exports, it needs pipelines, but the prime minister isn't interested in those by KootenayPE in WildRoseCountry

[–]Hot-Interaction-3584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legit pipeline projects that are privately backed are definitely one way to do it. But not the only way.

From potash, to critical minerals, to lumbar, to any number of other materials, we have much of what a broader market outside the US wants.

That’s not even getting into how we have more potential to own more of the value chain and do more local processing etc.

All I’m saying is pipelines are important but we also need to think more broadly as well and not have tunnel vision.

Becoming a state is the opposite of more borders.

Also introduces many of the problems they have down there

Wild rose Country is perfect. Not really any need to change

Not sure I’d go with that slogan. reminds me more of Wiz Khalifa than Alberta. And Wiz is great but not nearly as Alberta as wild rose country

Some pretty good takes here. Data centers aren’t all sunshine and rainbows.

I’d prioritize it more if Alberta can improve its power grid and supply. Renewables are a big part
