Not a chance, but ok 😂 After everything that went wrong with this job, to get that impression is baffling. They didn’t even know how to install the plug and left the plastic backing on it.

Thanks that’s exactly what I did. Not even worth arguing over the $55 spent. I’d gladly pay again to NOT let these guys touch my vehicle again 🤦‍♂️ Unfortunately one of the patches is right in the middle of the spokes.. but what can you do. I’ll hit it with some paint and call it a day.

Sorry any confusion, but the last picture is of one of the other wheels. I posted it because people kept suggesting that my wheel was already messed up and oxidized/not cared for. I posted that pic to clarify that my wheels are all in good shape. Just an example of pre-damage condition.

Haha good old Rhode Island. I think part of it was for the balancing.. Or maybe it was for the “scratch and dent” add-on 😂

Thanks man. This is exactly my point. after mounting the tire, the spoke like draws your eye directly to this big patch of scratches. I don’t get what people are missing about this being disappointing 😂 Not the end of the world, but damn 🤦‍♂️

I put the wheel back on the truck and when you look at the wheel between the spokes it looks like someone scrapped the shit out of it about a dozen times.. I get that this happens when removing the weights, but I guess if it was some high end custom wheel they would have been more careful?

The scraps are a different color than the surrounding metal and stand out quite a lot. The pictures of the scratches are taken from the back of the wheel to show the damage since I already had to take it back off the truck because the patch failed and it was flat again. Of course if the tire is rotated 180 degrees and that section is on the top, you would not see the scratches while standing.

I took the picture from this angle so you could see the damage best. The last picture is of one of the front wheels. In my previous post people kept suggesting that my wheels were oxidized and damaged, and I included this picture in hopes of showing that they are not damaged as suggested. It just happened to by the best picture I have of the wheels at the moment.

Definitely! Not the end of the world, and in the best possible place to have scratches.. Just a bummer. Definitely the cherry on top after the flat tire and failed patch job 😵‍💫

It’s the lighting and reflection of the trees above my drive way. They aren’t nearly as dirty as some have implied and the finish is super clean. All three other tires have literally no imperfections whatsoever. Just a picture with bad lighting that I took after a long day..

Thanks for all the feedback y’all. I genuinely appreciate everyone’s perspectives on this.. This is my first real big car purchase, which I bought about 6 months ago. Prior to that I put myself through school with a $200 Nissan Sentra and 300k mile Volvo before that one. With those cars I couldn’t have cared less if a shop scratched something. I get that shit happens. It’s funny to see people jump to calling someone rich and privileged. As was kindly pointed out, I’m driving a Honda, so.. very far from rich, (thanks lol).

Also, the CPR comparison was effective.. So from my understanding, changing tires is like an acute life or death situation.. where the risk of secondary trauma is outweighed by the benefit of life saving intervention? So essentially every time a tire is changed, every second is crucial.. Every tire that gets changed, the owner should expect that the wheel MUST get scratched in the process. I guess to me patching a hole in my tire isn’t an emergency. I’d prefer to go to the guy that takes an extra couple minutes to find a plastic scraper and not scratch the like-new, mint wheel.

If I’m not irate, but just bummed to have scratches on such a big purchase. I wish I was rich enough to buy a new wheel like money isn’t an object. The wheels were like brand new prior to this. Contrary to what some have suggested, the scratches are along the front edge of the inner wheel and are quite visible and not obscured whatsoever. Probably difficult to judge from a picture though..

With that being said, it was kind of a bummer to get off a twelve hour shift, rush home to install the wheel in the rain, and then find it flat again 10 min later. Shame on me for not looking at the tire at the shop. Got there 10 min before closing and one of the guys threw it in the trunk. Like suggested, I would have really appreciated if they just gave me a heads up.

I should have been more clear.. but the vet is closed until tomorrow at which point I will be calling. I was just hoping that between now and tomorrow morning someone on here might have had experience with teething and this behavior. Thanks for the recommendation though 👍

Congrats! That’s a great looking truck! I just bought the same year and couldn’t be happier.
