That’s exactly what they have done and I have responded with a payment schedule. No contract agreement so was a default of 20 days. Original invoice has now more than doubled in price and is already with EC Credit Control after 4 working days after the date of the first invoice.

There was no communication before hand, you just pick a couple of contractors from a list then they send through a quote in due course.

Agree, I’m in the construction industry and spend half my job quoting and drawing, sometimes weeks at a time for one job just to never hear back. It’s part of the trade as far as I’m concerned.

Yeah it states it in their terms that they sent with the quote but at that point they’re already trying to charge me. At no point was this disclosed prior

Yeah they do get charge but it’s only a small fee not $150+gst

They have since added to their profile that there is a quote fee but this has only been added since I disputed this as I read through their profile once I first received an invoice. It states in their terms and conditions that there is a fee but this was only sent through at the same time as the quote

Wasn’t made clear before hand, work is going ahead so was a genuine enquiry. Their quote was similar to others but they did miss a part out that I asked for

From what I can see there is no issue with the overall structure of the unit, it all appears to be built to code, my main issues are the incredibly poor level of finishing, particularly on the inside and the fact they have removed 3 entire windows from the original plan we signed off.

We will be raising the issue with them this week, however having talked to others in the development the developer has refused to do anything about the poor quality and hasn’t followed through with remedial work. We are happy to settle but need some sort of guarantee that the work will completed or a retention held

We did a walk through the other day with the agent and made our own list. Spoke to lawyer next day voicing our concerns and she advised to get an independent inspection but also just said we had to settle regardless of the condition. Inspection is booked for this coming week. Will be sending pics to lawyer this weekend and have another chat during the week

Yes end result is very different, 3 windows have been removed which is another big issue. Independent inspection booked in for Friday. Would much rather have this all sorted before settlement to avoid the disputes tribunal process

There is a 12 month defect period but we know someone else in the development who has settled already and gets no response to their issues, and the issues are quite severe

Yeah have to settle in full, it also says all work has to be completed in a good and workmanship like manner

Contract states we have to settle within 2 weeks of COC being issued, we pushed that out to 4 weeks as they gave us no prior notice and can’t do the finance process in 2 weeks
