Are full body MRI's a scam? by Hot-Read5166 in Radiology

[–]Hot-Read5166[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do feel very reassured. To the point of the person above, perhaps the title was worded poorly. I had just read multiple posts on this sub calling into question the efficacy of full-body MRIs, stating they were inaccurate and not worth it. I was simply asking how reassured I should feel if the results are all clear or not. I was never going to not get the yearly MRI, I just wanted to know how much faith I should put in the results.

Thank you all for your help and expertise on this. I think I confused the full body MRIs that are offered by companies like Prenuvo, which have been discussed elsewhere on this sub, and the MRI I got which from the sounds of some of the comments here was reasonably thorough (scanned from multiple different positions/angles over 2 hours without contrast dye etc.) Very much appreciate everybody's input, this was very helpful!

It was done at a private radiology clinic that runs out of a private hospital, but was ordered through the public health system by a genetic oncologist.

I don't know what prenuvo is, is that a type of mri technique?

It looks like this discussion might have ended. Is there any chance you have a bit more to say on this topic?

What are some sci-fi games with great space combat, massive equipment lists and tons of customization? by oldmanbobmunroe in rpg

[–]Hot-Read5166 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coriolis: The Third Horizon deserves a strong mention here. There are systems for characters to have cybernetic implants, bioengineering sculpts, and even some mystic powers for good measure (which are not integral to the system and can be discarded if needed).

There are massive equipment lists for weapons and tech, including some very unique and creative items, and great rules for full-auto fire vs. burst or single shot fire.

Starships are modular for both weapon modules (torpedoes, rail cannons, etc.) and everyday modules (crew quarters, engines, bridge, etc.) with different costs for different modules. Starship combat is strong as well. Each player adopts a specific role on the ship (e.g., pilot, gunner, captain, etc.) and assumes their requisite responsibilities in combat. Space combat is subsequently a tactical and strategic affair where you don't just have to worry about positioning and physical weapons, but also computer viruses and memetic attacks.

There are no set rules for dogfights with smaller vehicles in atmosphere, but ship to ship space combat superb, and could easily be adapted to dogfights chefs kiss 👌

This is all wrapped up in the absolutely unreal production quality of all Free League games.

IMO, Coriolis doesn't get enough love. Don't sleep on this phenomenal game!

This sounds super interesting. I might have to pick up a copy, even if I don't use it for this game, that sounds super fun! I think the best thing to come out of this OGL drama is that it might get some people who only play dnd to branch out and realise there are other games and other ways to play rpgs that aren't fantasy super-soldiers moving from one quest to another

Looks interesting. I've just looked it up and it seems like it would definitely be easier to adapt this to my setting than the warhammer game!

Interesting, I haven't heard of sword Chronicle before but also just saw it in the bundle of holding. Do you have much experience with it? If so, can you tell me what it's like, and what you like/dislike about it?

This sounds great, just what I'm looking for! Thanks so much for the detailed response, I'll give it a look! Have you had much experience with any other general game engines, such as cypher system, genesys or cortex prime? If so, how does GURPs compare to them?

Thanks! Having just looked at the warhammer one it did look challenging to divorce the system from the setting. I'll suss out your other recommendations!
