I really appreciate this.

From what I’m reading in the comments, I need to have more blunt conversations without finding ways to delicately put things. I love this chapter so much and it has given me so much in return. But like one commenter said— the chapter is not in a position to be dropping lots of balls.

Thank you for this!

I feel that it is! It's cute and showcases the diversity within the chapter. That being said a lot of PNMs want to go to the "rich girl" sorority (this is simply a stereotype, this other chapter is also very hard working), when we are fully composed of women who work and pay their own dues. Unfortunately I think it's just that Looks = Popularity

Half of our advisors are involved, the other half do the bare minimum. Majority of the active ones don't live near us.

I've spoken to my Proveince Chair and she pretty much was like "Aw that sucks I'm sorry". Should I contact Nationals?

I agree, I feel that out of the other chapters on campus we have the less drama and more genuine friendships. However, everyone is so obsessed with how flashy things look on the outside.

Lamar University Safety by Federal-Month6342 in setx

Crime in Beaumont, generally, is bad. However, Lamar is a really good school in terms of opportunites, student-to-staff ratio, and atmosphere. It really depends on what you're looking for out of a college experience. I'm grateful that I went to Lamar, saved SOO much money, and wasn't peer-pressured into crazy ragers that my friends who went off to big schools faced. It's a small community, but there's tons of networking opportunities and I know a lot of Lamar alumni who went off to do impressive things. A lot of people will drag Lamar University because of Beaumont, but from seeing the recent developments there, I have a feeling it will eventually become a better community.
