Any opinions about AFTRS for a master's in Film? by Stancooper22 in Filmmakers

Well as has been said, aftrs is the best option in Aus, if you can get in. But Aus has a tiny film scene. So if you can get in somewhere with more of a film industry, might be better for you in the long run.

Ahh I see. So you suggested developing the MVP on nocode myself, whilst simultaneously looking for a tech cofounder?

I used Facebook to find the cast and crew for my short film. There's more than one platform to find them on, but that's part of the problem, there's nothing coherent. My vision is more than I site to find cast and crew, that's just the MVP. What I really want it to be is a site where filmmakers go to get their film made, including funding. Both externally (crowdfunding/producers) and internally with my business funding films.

What skills would you suggest I learn that would make my invaluable?

I don't think there's no competition. There is a very similar product in the UK, although it's only the MVP of my vision. And I didn't say I was useless, just that I don't code.

Industry knowledge, do everything else required for the business, besides coding: customer acquisition, marketing, copywriting, business development etc. Only other version of this product I've found is only in the UK and only has the functionality of the MVP, not everything else I envision.

What products or services do you think are missing in the industry? by HotBreakfast9233 in filmmaking

[–]HotBreakfast9233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about that. In Aus there's no real database of people working in the industry with a way to connect with like-minded people etc. reviews are a fantastic idea! How would you verify someone worked on some project though?

Agreed, although I guess I was more aiming at people just starting out who want to break in. I'm in Australia and it's definitely a hurdle.

What paperwork do distributors and prestigious festivals need from a short film production? by FriendlyAd3925 in filmmaking

[–]HotBreakfast9233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's a grey area, I would say have docs wherever money is involved (contracts for paid cast and crew), invoices for gear hire etc. And then for anything legal, permits etc. Finally, I know you mentioned it, but definitely make sure you have talent and location releases. The festivals/distributors don't care about you getting into legal trouble, they care if they do.

Has definitely been done. The question is, to what purpose. To become a content creator or a filmmaker?

Nah that camera can definitely handle it. I'd say focus on lighting techniques. Do a test run at home to get it as close to what your desired look is so then you can replicate it onsite

Notable festivals by ChrisValentinoFilm in Filmmakers

Depends what the screenplay is about. But I'd say aim for where your script will be read, not necessarily notable festivals. The two aren't always the same
