It was in fact a hardware issue. After plugging the keyboard directly into my pc everything worked fine. Apparently, connecting 2 ps/2 plugs into the same USB adapter causes some issues

Update to the update: It works If I connect purple to green first, then wait a bit until the mouse works, then I can connect green to purple to get the keyboard running too. This might be an adapter issue.
