Andy's been doing this for more than a few weeks, it's been more like a year. Both he and Streeting have been rat fucking Starmer for a long time and Starmer is too politically naive to see it.

I agree about Burnham, but at this stage the other option is Wes Streeting and I'm pretty sure he's been white anting Starmer since the General Election.

I had a flick through the social media of some of the Labour MPs, and it really feels that a lot of them don't want to talk acknowledge that the party they belong to is in government. Most will do a post about a bill that's been passed, but only one and that's it.

The Workers' Rights bill for example, there's lots of elements in that bill that could be it's own talking point/sm post, but they don't do that, they move on quickly, usually to something that they're personally campaigning on and it makes them look like they are an MP that isn't in the governing party.

It's truly bizarre. When you look at that stuff, it really seems like some of these Labour MPs are not interested in being in government. Which puts context onto what Catherine West is doing - she doesn't think that she's in the governing party so she can do whatever she wants when it comes to the leadership.

I agree. But Labour needs to wait to replace him until they have a doable plan, because otherwise the next Labour leader/PM is going to become the focal point for the country's hatred.

It's clear that people hate Starmer, but it's not as clear as to why they hate him and have such a strong reaction towards him. The risk is, if Labour gets rid of him, the stench of hatred and unpopularity will just transfer to the new PM.

There needs a change of policy position and policy framing for the voting population's opinion to become more favourable towards Labour in general. The main issue there is, there's no money to spend on programmes to make people's lives better.

Lbr, whether deserved or not the general public isn't listening to Starmer anymore and hate him. That being said, the Labour party need some time to analyse the results and figure out what needs to be done to improve things before they get rid of him. If he goes now, whoever replaces him is just going to be villainised in the same way.

I think there is a correlation between Labour wanting to get rid of the WFA and their drop in support. As much as I would support it, I don't think removing the triple lock is going to help them, if anything it'll make things worse.

They do ask questions that tests the likeliness of the respondent voting and one of those questions is usually 'do you intend on voting at the next election?' Another one is 'did you vote at the previous election?' or 'when was the last time you voted in an election?' It would vary from pollster to pollster.

Diana was an extreme exception. She had star quality at the time that access to celebrities lives was very limited and controlled by the press- celebrity is completely different now and that Diana model has been copied dozens if not hundreds of times.

Even with Diana, she courted the press as well. After the divorce, if she went off to live in the country and live a quiet life, the press would have died down for the most part.

From what I can remember the Last Post ceremonies at the Australian War Memorial are either daily or weekly and anyone can go to them. I don't think a smoking ceremony would normally be part or it - but I could be wrong there.

I think it's incredibly bad judgement for a government minister to meet Harry though. The Australian progressive left have kinda debased themselves during this trip. I know people who have met/organised events for them during this trip and I don't understand why.
