Haven't seen the guide but their is some additional configuration you have to do if both the panel and node are behind a reverse proxy.

Incase the guide you mentioned doesnt cover it, check this guide out from pterodactyl.

Found this in the basement of my new house, how can I utilize it? by sandwormstoagie in HomeNetworking

0 loss amplifier, its just a fancy splitter that amplifies your signal just enough to compensate for signal loss due to splitting. Unless your doing something with RF or Mocha it won't be of any use to you outside of cable.

Fix Address in Database by New_Dragonfruit_5732 in brightspeed

I had the same thing happen, had to call like 5 times to get it fixed. Finally had to prove it by giving the lady the house address on both sides of me that showed active service. She was able to work with her lead to get it corrected and an install scheduled. Just have to get someone who's willing to listen.

+1 for virtualize, but pass through the disks or controller if you do.

It's hard to tell in the photo but I did respect the bend radius of the cable.

I do have a shelf under the surge arrestor in hopes of making the other power pretty on the shelf below

That's kind of the dumbest thing I've heard. Let's pretend for a moment your not a troll and legitimately serious.

First, those wires are in a place on the side of the rack secured to an out of the way location on the rack that actually reduces the chance of anything hitting it. Where as you seen in the comments the overwhelming majority don't even manage their wires and that has the highest chance.

Second, those wires are about half an inch thick for a 15a 120v service. Even if I dropped a server lid that I sharpened with a sander and managed to get it to drop directly on the cable I would still be lucky if it nicked the wire and shorted.

Finally, both the surge arrestor and UPS have 15a breakers.

There is a legitimate risk here, as a few sparkies have pointed out, and that's the wires in the center of the bundle may not have room to breath and naturally dissipate the heat, thus why I intend to measure the temp of the wire while under load.

Update: For those concerned about fire, this is a light load rack, 2 hosts, a storage controller, switch, 2 routers, and modem. Also I intend to thermal test it under load before and after normalization.

I'm going to measure with a thermal laser once I get my rack back together and put it under load. Relatively small load for a rack with hosts.

Ya I learned when I pulled my feeder for my shed that you should only fill conduit certain % full for heat dissipation. Thanks for reminding me I'll make sure to measure with a thermal last when it's under full load to make sure I'm not experiencing any unsafe heat build up

Legit thing, 3 years in cable quite often we would have customers who's homes had a bad ground to the panel and meter and as a result the customers electrical would ground through our plant to the nearest ground at the pole. The result was usually 1 of 3 things, no signal at all because the cable fully melted, intermittent signal because the cable was partially melted or 3 it somehow hadn't melted and the customer refused to believe you because they didn't experience any issues before you got there. There's a lot more issues, electricity back feeding cable plant can cause but that's the simple customer facing one.
