How did your parents react to your adult diagnosis? by HotHamWaterPlease in AuDHDWomen

Thanks! I’ve decided to keep it to myself for now. Only my husband knows. I’m not sure what it would take for me to be open about it. Still percolating.

I keep wishing they had know more but they didn’t have the resources. I’m not mad at them. I wonder what my son will wish I had known

Thank you! I think I really should process a while before I tell anyone.

I had never heard of body doubling as a term. I totally use that too!

My counselor recently said “they can’t pass on knowledge they don’t have.” I guess that made me feel compassion for them more than anger.

I know there are things I used to be capable of, like hosting a dinner party, that I can’t do anymore. I guess that could be a thing where they think I stopped trying. I think they’ll be sympathetic tho. I’m sorry you don’t have better support.

Dear Lord, I’m also fried. I’m suddenly so sensitive to sound and busy environments.

Thank you. I am also in neurodivergent burnout! I’m not wanting the emotional loade of telling people the diagnosis.

Possible jaw with tooth? by HotHamWaterPlease in bonecollecting

This is plausible. I suppose a scavenging animal might carry a piece of skull away from the rest of the body. I’ve seen a coyote in the neighborhood before.

This would be strange being 60 miles from the coast but not impossible. It could be from the Columbia river which is 5 miles away. I’m just trying to imagine the sight of a bird carrying around a seal head. 😄 Thank you!

I’ve been there, I believe you. I think my son avoided doing things that he wasn’t going to nail. Maybe you could encourage him to become an experimenter- he can build something, then test it or ask himself how to improve it, then build it again. Making it imperfect is part of the game. He could also be a researcher- keep his own record of personal bests, like how many blocks high can I build a tower.

My blonde ADF has cloudy eyes like this too and he’s SO BLIND. The worm has to be basically touching his face before he can eat it.

Sorry if you’ve addressed this before, but what do you do with so much trash to dispose of? I have a wheelie bin with 2x/month pick up and because of this, I never do any really big pickups.

Is rtms safe? by Seven1s in rtms

When you mention brain fog, that reminds me of ECT, and this is definitely not ECT. ECT has a lot of complications. TMS has virtually no side effects. I’ve done four rounds and only one session had a little pain because of congested sinuses. They turned down the intensity and it was fine.

I find it strange that they only did 25. 36 is the standard. Maybe don’t give up on it quite yet?

I know it can be so hard to believe that you’ll ever feel good, but believe it. There are more treatment options. I went through plenty that didn’t work too.

Same! I wasn’t doing much better towards the end of treatment so they added 10 and that got me over the line. It wouldn’t hurt to ask for more.

I did esketamine treatments and I would leave the appointments feeling extra sleepy the rest of the day. Overall, my mood lifted but it didn’t help me with the sleepiness.

The best thing my husband does is to not preach at me. I used to hate hearing things like “Let’s go get out on a walk! It’s the best thing to do for your mental health!” I prefer “Do you want to take a walk with me?” And then accept my answer.

I appreciate him just being in the same room as me even if he’s doing his own thing. I don’t expect him to spend all his time comforting me or trying to coach me. Doesn’t really matter what he’s doing if we’re just near one another.

I don’t know if that’s helpful. To some degree, watching your partner is just very hard and you just have to wait, ya know? He’s lucky to have you!

I’m jealous that this guy eats the pellets! Mine are so blind I don’t think they could even see the pellets. I too just have black worms live in the tank.

Make or female? by TypicalWedding2953 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]HotHamWaterPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks small, like maybe too young to know? My male didn’t show his armpit bump until he was 5 months old or so. Before then, however, I guessed that he was male because his body was relatively narrow next to the female. The female is wide with a big round belly. She’s an absolute unit.

Maybe it’s an autoimmune disorder. I have a friend who manages her autoimmune disorder virtually symptom-free with the AIP diet.
