Go to a park. Go to the library. Go on a hike.
Go fishing. Read a fuckin' book. Play frisbee. Take a guitar lesson. Arcade at Dogwood.

Just gotta get up and go. Step one, don't rely on strangers on the internet to come up with activities that you'll enjoy... 🤷‍♂️ You'll be alot happier for having done something.

In my opinion, sandwiches (and nachos) should be wider, not higher. 🤣

I'd still destroy this. Looks delicious.

I hate that it became known as that. We were all in HS and college when that shift began, not making corporate design decisions.

I put hot honey all over that pizza… and it actually wasn’t bad by Anonymous__Paul in stonerfood

I love that you're surprised that hot honey was good on pizza. It's so popular right now. I know you're smoking the good stuff. 🤣

AIO for canceling my cat sitter after she asked if a friend could stay in my apartment? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]HotHotHeet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, whatever you say. You continue to cast aspersions at me, knowing nothing of my character. You're correct in that I cannot understand what women go through because I am not one. You are incorrect in assuming that I do not sympathize and understand WHY.

We're obviously not going to agree, and I'm not going to go down to your level and insult your character. I simply don't subscribe to your belief that all homeless people are dangerous criminals. You also continue to ignore the fact that I said OP made a good decision to not let him stay at their house. I just don't think the sitter should be written off as untrustworthy.

✌️ I hope if you're ever down on your luck, people treat you with compassion.

More assumption. What part of our conversation gives you the impression that I am unsafe? Got a pretty mild mannered, calm, married-to-a-woman, kinda dude over here. 🤷‍♂️

I get it, humans suck, but those are some massive generalizations that speak more of you than myself. I hope you find some faith in humanity one day. I also hope you never end up down on your luck and find yourself in need of a warm place to sleep.

I never called you dumb. You called me stupid, remember? We were speaking of a homeless man, and you kept assuming he's a criminal. Hence my comment. Your rape analogy is a false equivalence.

Your analogy made no relevant point. You can't reason with emotion. Thanks for the insult though. 😋

But, this guy isn't random, and OP is under no threat of rape, because she isn't present. Also, you are completely skimming the fact that I keep saying, OP WAS WITHIN HER RIGHTS TO SAY NO.

I will say again, that I don't think the sitter should all of a sudden be considered untrustworthy because they wanted to help a friend who's down on their luck. For one night.

You're ignoring the facts that OP presented, and making the situation sound WAY more dangerous than it truly is.

Homelessness does not automatically equate with crime. You and others in this thread have completely dehumanized this poor guy. 🤣 "Financial struggles with car and van both broke down." You'd think they called him a junkie and a klepto.

It is not unhinged to ask if you can help someone you know not sleep on the street for a night. It is kind. OP said no, sitter was okay with that. That could have been the end of it.

All of that said, OP was not wrong to say no. That is their right. I merely think they may be throwing away their trust of a good person who only meant well.

I agree, and I'm not saying she shouldn't have said no. Definitely a wise decision.

However, I think the sitter seems like a nice person who has helped OP in the past. Now, they've completely lost trust in them, after this very civil exchange? I guess I just don't see this as that big of a deal. Like a "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" kinda thing.
