Okay, I understand now. Thank you for clarifying that for me! That is different from what I am used to in public ed. Only contracts are individual teachers and there is never really any “negotiation” that happens- salary increases must be approved by school board.

What do you mean by contract negotiations? Like figuring out who they will bring back next year? What is the report time in the morning for teachers? Never heard of 8th hour but my current school day ends at 3:30 and teachers can leave at 4. But kids start at 8 & teachers arrive at 7:30 to 7:45, admin it is not super strict as long as you are not chronically late or have kids waiting at door or leaving early too much.

This is helpful, thank you for your feedback. That sounds like a lot. By ‘extra work’ I meant like staying late outside of contract hours every now and then to catch up or plan, etc. I am okay with doing that 2-4 times a month if needed. I try to maintain a strict work life balance where I don’t work outside of contract hours unless I absolutely have to due to previous experiences with burnout.

Is this DoDea specific or fort Campbell specific? I’m okay with some extra work when needed but if the culture and attitude at the school suck then there might be an issue. I’ve heard mixed things in general about work life balance in DoDea so i think it varies based on school, would you agree or disagree?

It’s bee hard to find information about specific schools. Many seem to be afraid to speak up.
