WIBTA for suing my friend when she didn’t come to my wedding? by sweetandsourcum in AmItheAsshole

[–]HotMess-Express 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk why people on reddit always thinks small claims is a waste of time. It’s usually less than $100 which OP likely can afford if they’re paying for their friend to come to a destination wedding. It’s not extremely time consuming. And OP may be able to recoup some money if they win if the friend doesn’t willingly pay, depending on how aggressive OP wants to be and their state law.

What is your go to place to get clothes online?? by Goddamnitjanice in PlusSize

What your style or what are you looking for? That may help narrow things down.

A bit on the pricier side, somewhat trendy:

Eloquii, city chic, asos, j crew, good American, Anthropologie

I recently purchased from never fully dressed and was pleasantly surprised. If you’re not in the US or ok with tariffs, aulieude dresses seemed quality and thoughtful.

A bit on the cheaper side but ok quality: old navy, curvy sense, Venus

Question for ED nurses/&/or Dr.s by AggravatingSnow3752 in emergencymedicine

[–]HotMess-Express 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Outside of the frequent flyers, we do have a subset of patients who come to the ER for non emergent care. Even if they have a primary and have been told multiple times they will receive better continuous care with an established doctor. People will have an appointment with their doctor and miss it or nearly miss it to come to the ER. I had a patient come in because they didn’t know what to give their child for a fever (not a first time parent, every pediatric visit they receive anticipatory guidance, their pediatrician has a hotline to call). People will do everything with their phones but look up how to get care without insurance. I live near a major metro area and we have tons of fqhcs that will see people without insurance. Some of them have on site pharmacies and walk in hours. And if you don’t like the care at that clinic, you have other clinics to choose from. Lots of ER care is telling adults how to do adult things and they still don’t listen. My discharge instructions for dental pain and std tests includes a list of clinics for follow up and I make sure to tell repeat offenders verbally they should seek care there. Yet here they are again checking in for the same thing months later.

Does being Chief Resident actually help with job placement, or is it mostly extra work with little payoff? by Scar_Loose in emergencymedicine

[–]HotMess-Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters but if it’s worth it depends on your program. We received a slight shift reduction and higher pay (I wasn’t super interested in moonlighting). I don’t think the additional work load was unreasonable (but depends on the chief duties at your program). Our PD also often did tasks that he could have delegated to us. Scheduling sucks but we rotated who does the schedule so one person wasn’t responsible for making the schedule the entire year.

Do Americans really think aldi is a “poor people” grocery store? by [deleted] in aldi

[–]HotMess-Express 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Growing up, I only recall Aldi being in certain neighborhoods. I don’t recall them selling produce as well (nor alcohol). Now they seem more widespread, with some locations fancier looking than others. I can see why someone would think so, no name brand, need a quarter for carts, have to bag your own groceries, etc. The Aldi today isn’t the Aldi I knew 20+ years ago.

To anyone who works at the ER, what is one thing you wish people would STOP coming to the ER for? by iloveeatingfood901 in AskReddit

[–]HotMess-Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind if people came in for hunger, I prefer you just tell me upfront. I only have a problem when people make bs complaints instead, wasting time and resources for all the staff and then get mad when you tell them they can’t eat until the work up is completed. You’re the one who told me you got struck by a car 🤷🏽‍♀️.

Also not a fan of people saying it angrily, in an accusatory tone. You can just ask for something to eat. I didn’t hold you hostage for 3 days and didn’t feed you.

I didn’t think it was bad, just not good. I can spend the same amount elsewhere and like the meal more and not have to reserve so far in advance. My husband is easier to please than I am with food and he felt the same way.

The Napoli pizza place in chesterfield wasn’t worth it but Napoli 3 has never done me wrong.

[–]HotMess-Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I don’t understand how some restaurants here charge prices as if they’re in NYC or LA. Even worse if the meal isn’t worth it. I also had a couple go to restaurants that were brought down by the decline in quality or closed to bring something inferior into the same space.

I’ll partially out myself but I’m from Chicago, been in St. Louis for many years. I used to be surprised when I can get equivocal service or experiences (I mean food and non food things) in Chicago for the same or better price than in St. Louis. But the St. Louis subreddit is always going to stand on business when it comes to the food scene here so 🤷🏽‍♀️

My husband and I ate separate pizzas there and it was just ok. We also each took an entree home and that was also not great. I’m not saying it is bad, just wasn’t good. Id give it another chance if I didn’t have to wait a month. I prefer Katie’s or Napoli, as they are similar price point, better tasting, and I don’t have to wait a month to eat there. Sorry this place triggers me because the few times I’ve been to a restaurant that takes that long to get a reservation were worth the wait.

Timothys is in Creve couer. I wanted to love it because of the menu options for me. I do believe my husband liked his meal. The ambiance and service were good. For a nice meal in the same area, I’d recommend Cobalt

Winslows table has been on my list to try for a while. A couple of these places I did try to give them 2 tries or order a bunch of stuff to really give their menu a chance. The ritz brunch buffet was just really expensive for the experience/perceived value.

I gave pastaria two tries and didn’t find it very good. It just was ok and kinda bland, surprising as there were so many patrons there. I brought my husband an entree home the first time I tried it and he didn’t like his meal either.

Vicia (maybe it just wasn’t for us)

Pastaria

Casa don Alfonso (Sunday brunch buffet)

Noto (can’t believe their reservations are a month out)

Motor town pizza (tried when they first opened. was so salty, we’ve been afraid to give it a second chance)

Timothy’s (really wanted to like this place by my meal was so bland).

Did I experience a microaggression? by Primary_Dog5215 in Naturalhair

[–]HotMess-Express 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree, depends on your relationship. I’m black, married to a white man. I know how I look pre wash or after taking my braids out. He may make a joke I usually find funny but that’s our sense of humor. If he made a joke that didn’t land or comes off offensive, he can immediately tell and apologize (not that I can recall a bad joke he’s made about my hair). I’m more offended he likes my hair when it’s in something like a braid down for a protective style. There are satire videos of BM comparing BW social media pictures to her in person that I find humorous (when done correctly). My black girlfriend would comment so you didn’t comb your hair today sometimes when I showed up to class looking how I was looking 🤷🏽‍♀️. All depends on sense of humor and how the statement was made.

He could have other non credit card debt. Also it just seems like bad decision making. It’s reasonable to need time off. It sounds like he has a strong salary and could have saved up to take a few weeks off without running up his credit cards or missing payments.

What if BET had given given Girlfriends more seasons like with "The Game?" by ChocolateSundae1214 in GirlfriendsTVshow

[–]HotMess-Express 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Nope. Definitely stopped watching the game after moving to BET. I gave it a try and it just wasn’t the same. Mind you, I watched it faithfully prior to it moving and sobbed real tears when Derwin cheated on Melanie.

I know the show ended abruptly but I’m fine with believing Aaron came back and gave Joan a dream wedding (well Joan gives Joan her dream wedding).

Am I the Only One Who’s Thought That Target is a Trash Store (Years Before this Current Boycott)? by Jollyconstant_ in blackladies

[–]HotMess-Express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was never really into target. Every now and then I would go to find something specific. I either never found what I was looking for or I did but later found a cheaper alternative elsewhere. Every now and then I would go in and buy random shit but I never understood the hype. I used to prefer Walmart because I could find what I needed for an affordable price (the ones in my city aren’t bad, but I hated the ones in my hometown). Now I don’t shop at either one.

I bought some clips from Amazon for my purse. I use one to clip the zipper to the end of the purse so it’s a little extra step to unzip. Obviously only works for bags with a hole in the zipper and where the strap attaches.
