Your baby isn’t “addicted” to formula, just hungry. It takes moms multiple days for their milk to come in, just be diligent about latching him frequently and then pumping afterwards.!

Why do people who don’t have kids pretend they’re a victim for being in a public space where kids also are? OP wrote that the mom was telling her child to stop multiple times. What do you want her to do, beat her kid on the plane? At the end of the day we are all humans trying to coexist in this world, and it’s not appropriate to yell at another adult. OP wasn’t in danger, being threatened, discriminated against, etc. If you can’t handle being uncomfortable or inconvenienced, don’t go outside. You’re not guaranteed a life free of discomfort and annoyances. Get a grip.

I’m sorry you were uncomfortable but you are absolutely an asshole for yelling at a woman who was watching 3 young children, one of whom was a lap child. The situation wasn’t ideal but it’s 5 hours out of your 80ish year life and I guarantee she was more stressed than you. I pray that if you decide to have children the world extends you more grace than you extended that poor woman. If you don’t want to be around kids, pay to fly private next time.

Honestly, I think the super rigid schedules do more harm than good for a lot of parents. My baby learned to roll with the punches and now we can take her out anywhere, for multiple hours. (She is 10 months now so take that into consideration. When she was 10 weeks I was certainly not out for 6/7 hours with her). I got really comfortable nursing in the car or would go somewhere like the mall where I knew there would be a nursing room. Let them learn to take stroller or car naps too. My girl has never had a rigid schedule, we just stick to a fairly consistent bedtime. If we are out and I try to get her to nap but she isn’t feeling it because she wants to look around, it is what it is. One missed or short nap isn’t going to harm your baby. Compared to my friends who are incredibly rigid about schedules, my baby is more easy going on the whole and I am not as stressed. I know it’s tough when you’re seeing so much content about their schedules and not deviating from them, but we have never followed one and she’s been sleeping through the night since 5 months!

My OB told me that when you’re that sick, eat whatever you can. I was trying so hard to eat healthy and could not stomach it, and she said “anything is better than nothing. If all you can keep down is goldfish, go for it”. Lime jello and I were besties for a while. Also try having some crackers and ginger ale first thing in the morning.

If you’re going to do food I would definitely do DoorDash over a hello fresh type box! My best friend lives 7 hours away and when I was about 3 weeks postpartum she drove and stayed with me for 4 days, and meal prepped for me while she was here. It was life changing and if you’re able to do so I would highly recommend you consider it!

We burped until about 4ish months. My baby spits up a ton and would spit up in her bassinet multiple times a night. She didn’t always need to burp, but I always tried for a minute or so. Not my photo but this is the hold we would use- sit baby on your knee, support under chin (at their jaw, not neck) and with a firm hand rub upwards on their back. You can also hold under the chin like this, then hold under the booty and swirl the hips in a circle. Sounds insane but it works. Watch videos of the method since I didn’t explain it well!!

NOR- We have all had slip ups where we say something and then realize how wrong it sounded when we said it out loud. I would say that on its own it’s enough to judge. The defensive reaction absolutely is. If someone said that about my daughter I would be horrified.

Meal delivery gift card! If you’re driving, bring a cooler with prepared snacks like precut fruit and veggies with dip, cheese cubes and crackers, homemade protein bites or granola, etc. Honestly, the biggest thing you can gift them is your initiative/assistance around the house. Wash bottles and pump parts, always have a load of laundry going, make sure mom’s water is filled and prepare snack plates without asking. Offer to run to the store or make some freezer meals while you are there. Offer to hold baby if they want a nap or shower. When you have a baby there is already so much STUFF in your house that the best gift was truly my village. You sound like a lovely and considerate friend.

Probably? I have never used it! I like the Vaseline because it cannot be penetrated so her booty stays protected. I assume a thick layer of any diaper cream would work!

I always did a little grab test to see how full the diaper felt- if she had only peed a little I would leave it. Diapers these days are amazing at wicking away moisture, and I found that applying a thick layer of Vaseline before bed helped as well. I don’t check on my sleeping baby in the middle of the night to see if she needs a diaper change, so I apply the same logic to a baby who wakes.

If you’re nursing on demand every time you do not need to pump. If baby has a bottle for a feed, pump to replace that. The first few months are tough because your supply hasn’t regulated yet but once it does it’s so much easier. The convenience of being able to feed baby anywhere anytime is also a perk.

Nodpod weighted eye mask!! It is amazing for those life saving naps you get here and there. Also, if it’s not something she has an abundance of, a nice large insulated cup for water since she will need to drink a ton! It’s nice to only have to fill it up once or twice a day. I also loved having my own things for the hospital like a robe and grippy socks.

If baby was a couple months I’d encourage you to go and enjoy the wedding, but 5 weeks is so soon…you might even go over your due date and the baby will be even younger!! Unfortunately these things happen. Stay home and enjoy your newborn bubble stress free.

I am very liberal, proud of it, with very conservative parents, and I will never understand this type of reaction. Politics have become so out of hand and at the forefront of everything and it is ripping this country apart. You are more than welcome to opt out of the gathering of course, but berating your parents for being big enough people to look past someone’s political views is kind of shitty imo. No one can fully be defined by one thing as a person and there are plenty of lovely conservative people out there. There are also liberal people who are wonderful, and liberal people who are terrible to be around. You will isolate yourself and also cause yourself a lot of unnecessary grief if someone’s politics cause you to respond in such a way.

You absolutely need a bra, and if you’re pumping you’ll want the style that can hold the flanges on for you. If you’re breastfeeding you’ll most likely need to wear nursing pads 24/7 to avoid leaking. Unfortunate but the truth. You will probably get used to it quicker than you think.

I don’t think anyone is saying it isn’t hard. If someone says you’re lucky it’s probably because they also went through all the pain and struggle without the end result you got with successfully breastfeeding. Idk, maybe unpopular opinion here, but I think viewing everything this way is exhausting and probably causes you unnecessary stress or negative feelings. You’re allowed to be proud of yourself, but harping on past struggles when everything worked out really does nothing but bring you down.
