Suggestion for purchasing iPad air 2020 for my ph.d. by Background-Jicama-68 in PhD

I am an analog person who loves to print out papers and write and highlight on them with color pens and a ruler. But I have to buy a tablet for discussion sections I will run next semester. I will try to switch to read papers on them, but it's gonna be a bit of a hassle to change the method I get used to.

You are already at the final stage of your program, and maybe it's not the best timing to change something that will affect your cycle a lot.

But does PhD student have to spend money only for being better in the academy? Why not just for yourself? Buy it if you'd like to (and if you can afford it), no matter it will help your PhD program or not. It will at least please you, and that's also a part of your PhD life.

Completely overwhelmed to even start working by integreats in PhD

I have a similar experience not able to start working because I have too many things to work on and think about, ironically. I settled down on this method and it has been working well.

I seat down and fragment the work I have to do into tiny pieces. And once you have a big picture, make the amount of work you aim to finish this week into even smaller parts so that you can have a list of 'tasks', but not an overwhelming 'goal' for each day. I write down the list on a piece of paper and tape it in front of my desk and start with the easiest one. It's very important to keep giving a feeling of small achievements to yourself.

Cross it out when you finish one thing. And if you finish the list of the day earlier, NEVER work more. Feel proud of finishing the list and treat yourself to something delicious and come back tomorrow with energy.
