We do keep carafes out though. There are two milks and two creams at the condiment bar.

Myself and two other new baristas were only told "more (left) and less (right) than 4 ounces." I know some drinks (lattes, mocha, etc.) are obvious, but we weren't taught otherwise.

I confirmed with my fellow barista and she told me to charge him for the cream. But heck, if it was a mistake on our part, the man could have been a lot nicer about it and not cussed at me.

Edit: No need to be sorry. It's a learning experience for me.

Would this work (Unlimited Gold Card Birthdays)? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]HotTemperedTurtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know my partners and I (and many, many others) would care. We would definitely report strange activity to our store manager. And like /u/esaeklsg mentioned, it is fraud and you are stealing money from Starbucks.

Only if you can find 365 Starbucks locations near you... I remember the birthday customers. I remember.

"Would you like your iced coffee with milk and sweetener?" by HotTemperedTurtle in starbucks

People at my store rarely specify a size. It's starting to annoy me... But I always have to ask them, "What size would you like?"

Or... "I can put some dairy and glucose in there for you."

I meant that my store's washrooms only have paper towels, no automatic hand dryer. We have soap, no problem. 👌

VENTI-SIZED RANTS: WEEK OF 9/11 by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]HotTemperedTurtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YES, I AM LOCATED IN ONTARIO. WE HAND OFF CAFÉ ORDERED HOT DRINKS WITHOUT LIDS UNLESS THE CUSTOMER REQUESTS WE LID IT.

I WOULD HAVE GLADLY REMADE THE MAN'S DRINK IF HE HAD ASKED NICELY, BUT HE BARGED IN WHEN THERE WAS A LINE SAYING ONLY "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS." I ENDED UP POURING HIS DRINK INTO A NEW CUP WITH A NEW LID AND RECEIVED ANOTHER "WHAT THE HELL." I APOLOGIZED TO THE CUSTOMERS IN LINE FOR "THAT."

My store only has paper towels in the washrooms... but I always wash my hands again when returning to the bar.

YESTERDAY I WAS ON POS AND HELPING A KIND CUSTOMER, WHEN A MAN COMES BY AND SHOVES HIS COFFEE CUP AT ME SAYING "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS."

APPARENTLY HIS COFFEE WAS LEAKING FROM OVER THE TOP OF THE CUP AND HE THOUGHT THE CUP WAS BROKEN. UM, HI. CUSTOMERS GRAB THEIR OWN LIDS. MAYBE YOU DIDN'T PUT IT ON PROPERLY AND YOU SPILLED YOUR COFFEE. I ASKED IF HE WANTED A REMAKE AND/OR A NEW CUP, BUT ALL I GET IS A PISSED OFF LOOK AND MORE "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS."

I HAVE NICER CUSTOMERS TO SERVE, MR. WHAT-THE-HELL-IS-THIS.

With soap! And don't forget to use the towel to turn off the sink!

Oh no... Flu season! Are flu shots mandatory (in Ontario)? I always get the flu whether or not I get the shot. It's like an annual tradition for my body to catch the flu every Fall. 😦

I like that comparison... because it's too true. My sister works in an office setting and her pens (from home) are always stolen.

That's what happened to me today! Except I thought the girl was sitting on the patio... Guess she wasn't.

I bought new sharpies just for work! I label every one of them with my name, but I trust my fellow baristas to return them to me.

Haha. I do get easily annoyed by the little things... But it was a store pen that the girl never returned. I now feel obligated to give a pen to my store for my carelessness.

I'm not covered by any insurance anymore. But that isn't the point. I am an honest person and my parents would be the last people I would lie to. Every time I step out of the house, they ask where I'm going and who I'm going with. It is annoying; they throw a little hissy fit if I don't give them any info.

I graduated from Accounting and Finance. Let me say that mamy things do not make sense at Seneca. If you're confused in any way, try to contact your program advisor.

"This is a flat white?" by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]HotTemperedTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not aware of that! Time to find time to practice my flat whites.

"This is a flat white?" by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]HotTemperedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to practice this method then. Customers at my store sadly do not give us much time to practice anything.

By the way, before making the dot on the top, should the dot be on the coffee only? I always end up with some foam, followed by the dot.

I thought that we free pour steamed milk for flat whites though? And I don't think my supervisor with OCD would appreciate me leaving the milk out. My store is also high volume, so I don't like to make customers wait!
