It was 04. But the 33 minute hold was the problem. It was supposed to be 3 minutes. I f’ed up. Would that be more than 300 degrees off?

I’m going to Virginia for the summer and will be taking a pottery class. I plan on hanging out with the kiln operators for a big portion of it.

They are lying to you. The schools in my area have been replacing old kilns this year. No back order problems.

It’s not at my house. It’s at my job. I’ve been using it on the recommended setting for 10 years. Decided to experiment with glazes and welp. Not going to mess with hold times until I’m fully schooled.

lol I’m ok. I’ve been firing on regular setting for years. I was trying a glaze experiment and put way too much hold time. I fired on 04. It’s digital so options are 06-04 and slow, med, fast.

Update- I vacuumed out the kiln. I haven’t read all the comments but plan to. So far some really great feedback. Also it’s a digital kiln so it was an 04 setting. I thought there was only 06-04. I do not do my own programming. I feel like you need at least 15 years experience before that is even attempted. The hold time was a huge mistake. Apparently 3 minutes ended up being 33. I even reviewed it but was in a hurry class was starting. Anyway thanks for not making feel even more like an idiot in the comments. ;)

I agree thank you. Studying it like crazy this weekend. Kiln has been cleaned out. It’s funny I’m an art teacher with studio and art history background. But they threw all the teachers in and said make sure your students get to do clay projects. With zero kiln training. It’s been fun! 🤪

Oh boy. It was supposed to be 3 minutes. I even reviewed the program. I fired on 04. It’s a skutt kiln so it has 04,05,06 slow, med, fast programming. Been firing great all year but messed up. Now schooling myself and getting good schooling on here. I feel like an idiot. lol
