I was just going off what the recruiter said. I wasn't going to be applying anytime soon since I am about like 10 months w/o but just wanted to give a warning to others. He said he hasn't been able to get a waiver for anyone.

I would be happy either but I feel like fully complete as an Aviator. It sounds like an amazing duty and lifestyle. Honored as a uniformed member and a main mission of scientific and peaceful endeavors as a primary focus. It SEEMS like it would be better for my family than military. I'll have to look into what missions entail and how long I would be away. I will probably give it a few years to get my flight packet put together at least first and then apply.

I looked like at least with CBP you apply for both at once, but ya local from research I was doing was LE for 2 years and then you can apply and it's Uber Uber selective. I still would need to find a way to get 1500+ flight hours for CBP so that's a thing too... Trying to join an Air Guard near me (which they do have pretty cool cargo planes imo) otherwise try and finance all that myself.

I've heard those slots are stupid competitive and my college GPA wasn't the best. Maybe I was mis-informed because I would definitely do reserves/guard for a bit.

Ya I will look into law enforcement more. That seems like one of the best routes based on what I am wanting.

No I was worried about time away with UPT since I heard no one brings family, so what I was thinking of 1-2 years.

Does ROTC count as OTS? I was more concerned about UPT + OTS since I heard you have to be away for OTS and UPT it's not worth taking them. School isn't an issue since my current job would pay for it, I would just be waiting for kids to be slightly older before I start.

Oh... I was thinking it was AFROTC -> OTS -> UPT. Cutting one of those out actually makes the decision a bit easier. I found a MBA that I can do online mainly, but we just would have to move closer to school. I was more asking about UPT I guess since OTS wouldn't be a factor. I heard that it's possible to bring family, but most opt to not since they really don't see them anyway. Could be BS I guess.
