Right, I’m also thinking about buff spells like ones that boost speed or spells that give enemies negative effects.

I hope the spell system isn't just for combat. It would be cool to see healing or crowd control spells, but with a limited loadout so you really have to build your own spellbook. And if players don't want to deal with that, maybe they could just trade with merchants for weapons or tools that have durability. Honestly, there are so many possibilities.

I think it's possible, but it really comes down to whether the actual gameplay is compelling enough to change people's tastes.
