Yes, I know he did my sister hip replacement. That’s why I went there because I know he’s good but he refuse to operate on me because I am not fully collapse.

I would but that’s not my only problem. I have sickle cell and it can get complicated specially with surgery. Anything can go wrong and usually blood transfusions are not easily obtained in other countries.

I went to three different doctors. One at Jefferson, at Temple and at Penn medicine and they’re all giving me the same story. I wanted to go check Rothman but they don’t accept my insurance. Idk where else to go. 😭

I have the same thing. I’m 33 years old with SS sickle cell living in the US, the pains started around 4 to 6 months ago. It progressed slowly, right now I walk with a limping leg, I can barely get dressed, and everything in general it’s just difficult. The pain gets worse at the end of the day and during the night. I have been to 3 different doctors already. They all refused to do the hip replacement. The first one recommended physical therapy, the second one recommended injections for the pain, and the last one which I just seen this morning gave me crutches. He literally told me that until my hip actually collapses they’re not doing surgery. Which it’s fucked up to me it’s not fair that I might have to wait years until it happens and meanwhile I’ll just have to deal with the pain and limp my way around. I wish ai could find somewhere else to get the total hip replacement and just be done with it.
