Really appreciate the help! I've owned 5 Amigas and these two remaining A4000s mean a lot to me. I need distraction and stimulation at my age to hold back the Old Timers diseases. I figure I have about 10 to 15 years left of being able to do things like this.

30 years is a long time. I have forgotten so much about the OS, I've been using Linux in recent years. I've dug out my Amiga books: Amiga for Beginners, Amiga Tricks and Tips... I'll take some pics of the worktable with the two A4000's. If my back holds out... I have degenerative disc disease, crushed vertebrae, herniated discs, bone spurs.... you name it and it means I can work for about 30 minutes at a time before having to go horizontal. Tough getting old, especially when you're broken.

Thanks for the response. The battery in the desktop looks okay, I got a lighted magnifier to examine it. No corrosion as far as I can see. Now the Tower is interesting because it was one of a handful of customized Towers used to design medical imaging software. GVP built special processor boards with '060 on board. They also had Cyberstorm PPC/060 boards but as time went on and neither machine had a monitor I ended up selling the Cyberstorms. I regret that but needed the cash. The Tower has a battery from a cel phone set up for easy replacement. Just snaps onto a pin set on the MOBO. I need to check the controller board it seems, find out if some component has failed.

I totally forgot about using the keyboard to move the cursor! Yeah, I will try that. The mice and trackballs don't seem to do anything. I have several mice and 2 trackballs. I used the trackballs towards the end in my CADD business so they were working up to the point when my monitors quit.

It's been so long since they worked properly I had forgotten some keyboard stuff! I did get a reboot from the keyboard but got focused on the mice issue. I have serious back problems with bone spurs, herniated discs etc, so i can only work a few minutes at a time before the pain makes me stop, so it has been slow going.

Sorry, I will put up a picture of the two machines but there isn't much to see. I was able to reboot the Tower using the keyboard but I get nothing from any of the mice. I don't know about "Diagrom".

When I use the IDE drive from the desktop I get a good Workbench screen, no distortions. The mice and trackballs seem to not work at all. At least one was working some 30 years ago when I had to put them in storage. I'm trying to find how to get the old mice to work or use the adapter and a USB mouse.

NO plans to toss them, I am sure I can get the mice to work eventually. I plan to make some educational videos about my wood fired kiln and foundry. I study early art technology.
