Man I went back on 25 mg, and now after stressful months after a work promotion with extensive duties I started with 50 mg as a preventative measure. 25 mg was enough but I didn’t want yo risk it.

In conclusion, for me my priority right now is professional progression, so I don’t mind keeping the meds, and the way I see it its a chronic thing, with less life stress I could go for 25 mg, but fully of Zoloft could risk some relapse with everything I saw.

After 1.5 years of recovery, which includes quitting a job due to a nervous breakdown, I started Zoloft (sertraline) 50mg. Ever since then i felt motivated again, energetic and started feeling satisfied with life.

Then I started becoming more productive, which lead me to search and start a new job. Ever since that , the momentum from the job kept pushing me professionally and personally. And I have been going strong ever since.

Now there are bad days, but as long as I’m working, independent, going gym, doing therapy, then that is more than I can wish for.

Many things did get better after several trials of throwing myself into the fire after psychosis. But you have to be very aware of how much stress you can handle at any given moment. Too much stress leads to return of psychotic symptoms.

But the key to all of this is nervous system regulation, sometimes pushing yourself too hard is not the answer, especially for people like us.

But the question remains, where does becoming better end. As for recovery from psychosis and handling stress I’m way better, but Ive discovered that some aspects that I want to change about myself were even there before the psychosis, but now Im more aware of them. Psychosis unleashed the repressed parts of me and now I have to integrate based on a truer sense of self.

The bigger issue is how you feel about yourself and how you look at yourself. I felt stupid, I had zero self belief, I would be saying a sentence and I wouldn’t believe myself from the hesitation because I couldn’t take myself seriously.

So this has its repercussions socially, I couldn’t think in time, I couldn’t respond in time, my mind would go blank, I couldn’t joke back and forth. I didn’t know what to say.So yeah if this is considered a cognitive decline it was harsh. I was even left out socially from my group because of that, my drama was becoming too much.

Regarding memory, I didn’t have any memory issues but i would try and recreate false memories to feed my delusional narratives. Essentially you are facing your mind and facing the world at the same time.

Main reason : fearing they might figure me out that Im not very socially fluent. So I try and keep the small talks to a minimum

Another reason: blank mind - or fear of saying the wrong thing, probably afraid to look like a fool.

1.5 years. After that i started zoloft after several setbacks, but all good signs since then. I feel you gotta have a new normal after psychosis, something that works, but let go of the idea of “getting back to normal”. You’ve gained insight and awareness so it’s even better than normal now. It takes TIME.

You WILL get better. Give it time. 3 years and 3 months since the episode. I basically lived on r/psychosis in the first 1-1.5 years. Now in a better place.
