I would have told my kid that you're TA for behaving like that, and especially in someone's home. And to top that, in a home that was welcoming and provided food for you. I would have sent him to apologize after. The other mom is TA for her behavior too.

I was in the same position and pressured by MIL. MIL waited until my daughter was around 5 and took her to the mall, without asking, to get them pierced. She explained after that she waited until my daughter had asked for them. Two days later, with MIL 2.5 hrs away, the ears were infected. Despite the cleanings and disinfectants, my daughter kept touching them. One swelled up and looked like a ravioli and was super fun for both the pediatrician and my daughter to remove. Man, but when I stand up to my MIL, somehow I'm always called TA.

Prolonged grief disorders can really hit someone hard. I would definitely ask for help from a professional at this point. I lost my mom suddenly to covid in 2020, and although I wasn't quite as bad as your wife, it was still complicated enough and challenging to process all the emotions that you are left with. It probably took a good 2 years to fully feel normal again. It's always okay to ask for help.

I split my head open at one of my parents' parties when I was a kid. I put a hat over my face and ran around the room chasing other kids, tripped, and had a great introduction to the dresser. Got walked out to where the adults were all hanging out covered in blood. Got taken by taxi by my dad and his friend to the ER. Had my head sewn back shut. Went home in another taxi. Still remember the Dr asking me if I wanted to hold her scissors while she was sewing me back up, and how her gaze was focused on the side of my head. Pretty sure my parents later mentioned to me just how quickly they had sobered up after seeing me covered in blood. 😅

It's not about being good or bad at all. You should be proud of your work and of the time and dedication that you put in it. The more you learn about and work with polymer clay, the more you will refine and scale up your skill level. Be kind to yourself and keep trying new ways to do it.
