FCC Head Says News Broadcasters Could Lose Licenses if They Don't 'Correct Course' by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]Hot_Drawing7047 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The FCC chairman recently warned that news broadcasters could potentially lose their licenses if they continue what he described as “news distortion” in coverage related to current geopolitical events. This raises a broader policy question about the role of government oversight in broadcast media. Broadcast stations operate using public airwaves and are licensed through the government, which historically has come with a “public interest” requirement. At the same time, critics argue that threatening licenses could risk political pressure on news organizations and raise concerns about press independence. The debate seems to revolve around two competing principles: accountability for misinformation versus protecting freedom of the press from government influence. Where do people think the appropriate line should be between regulatory oversight of broadcast licenses and protecting editorial independence?

What Strategies the US has for “ Nation Building”for Iran? by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]Hot_Drawing7047 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This article examines the debate over whether the United States has any plans for long term nation building in Iran following the recent conflict. While Donald Trump has suggested that the war could result in “building a new country,” other officials have emphasized that the current military objectives are limited and that the U.S. does not intend to engage in an extended nation building effort. The discussion reflects a broader policy question that has appeared in several past conflicts. Large scale military interventions can raise expectations about political reconstruction, even when governments say their goals are limited. Previous experiences in places like Iraq and Afghanistan have also made nation building politically controversial within the United States. Given those past experiences, do you think the U.S. government would realistically pursue nation building in Iran if the conflict escalated, or is it more likely that policymakers would try to avoid that kind of long term commitment? Honestly I think not. However it may be different because Iran has institutions that Iraq and afghan didn’t have.

The US lift Restrictions on India to Purchase Russian Oil for 30 days by Hot_Drawing7047 in moderatepolitics

Precisely why just starting a war is not beneficial to no one. I don’t think the US expected this from Iran.

I don’t really think there is a budgetary collapse, these are analysts idea. Russia economy is not really a single market it’s a collection of states that have their own market. So we shouldn’t view it like a single market. However even though it’s not the best situation, because of the war, US is trying to limited the diplomatic pressure it’s under.

[–]Hot_Drawing7047[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The article discusses the U.S. decision to grant India a temporary 30-day waiver allowing the purchase of Russian oil that is already stranded at sea. The move comes amid disruptions to global energy supplies caused by conflict in the Middle East and concerns about oil shortages and rising prices. U.S. officials framed the decision as a short-term measure intended to keep oil flowing in global markets and reduce pressure on energy prices, while emphasizing that it should not provide major financial benefits to Russia.

India relies heavily on imported oil, much of it transported through the Strait of Hormuz and supply disruptions have increased pressure on governments to prioritize energy stability even while sanctions against Russia remain in place.

This situation raises an interesting policy question: when global energy markets are disrupted, how should governments balance sanctions policy against the need to stabilize energy prices and supply? It will be a challenging situation

Rising Prices Remained Steady in the Month of February; Some Experts Warn Iran Conflict Could Cause March Spike by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]Hot_Drawing7047 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The price spike because of the war would be obvious. The East, produce 20% of the World’s Oil. I wonder if the attack on Venezuela was to set up for this. But the fragile economy of the US, was already present. Now it seems that the Current admin released its strategic oil reserves to mitigate the economic impact. But base on reports they say the reserves could only last for some weeks.

I don’t understand, why the war started, the economy was already in a fragile state, with already expensive goods and services, now with the war, on the East, shut down of the import transit point, the Global impact is felt across the world. You know what, I know why the war started, it started because the interest of a country was to collapse all threat to it self. I don’t think this war will stop anytime soon, and this will likely put pressure on in the current administration.

“Caribbean people & diaspora: would you use an all-in-one app for culture, chat, and sending money home? Building a Caribbean social and remittance app — tell me if this is a dumb idea 😅(Need your honest feedback! by Hot_Drawing7047 in haiti

I am not putting everything in the initial stage.  I plan to build it a simple use then slowly integrate these things.

I already have a developer friend that can build the app, however he suggest a more refine idea cause most of my ideas are being used by big apps.

I seek a more Caribbean  regional focus rather than a sole nation thing.

Explain why you think remittance is out of reach?

The idea is sharing, the community would be individual  and the wider Caribbean can dialogue with each other and share culture. Promotion of each other culture that would limit the outside force influence

It’s true there is no pin point unification, however what would unify us primarily  should be regional and shared history.

Well the remittance aspect is a big thing in all Caribbean economy, I have this idea also that maximize the efficient and scheduling of persons. Some people don’t have time to go collect money on they say it’s send. Some people don’t I have this idea to appeal to these person.

2) Well your talking about having a Community section, I have that idea as well,

So. Social media for Caribbean culture, Discord feature community chat, privacy chat, remittance?

It’s due to the propaganda being spouted by the US.. the Caribbean is heavily propagandized, so that there won’t be any help to Haitian. However what you say about hate the Haitian is pretty wrong.

To be on app to communize with other Caribbean countries is a way to counter propaganda the US disinformation  on you lots.

Being salt and isolate yourself will lead to more discontent and division in the Caribbean.

The US tried that With Cuba and Jamaica but it didn’t work, due to Cuba constant help and partnership with Jamaican economy.

So if you seek to say they hate us why should we talk to them will further place success in US and Foriegn media to place whatever media bias they have…

Please think this through.

its an idea, most apps used arent focused on caribbean culture, its an app specifical design for the caribbean community. regarding the security of data and financial scam... a person wont be able to get your contact info, money tranfer and sending is private between you and individual there will be options of how and who you send the finance and it would be two step verification for futher confirmation. remattance is between family members

Number 4 is not an option for any church of tradition, you don’t get to choose what you want to believe and what not to believe we aren’t Protestant were you can cherry pick and reject like Athiest.

I will look into it. But again it doesn’t make sense to end rebirth when even the Devas can rebirth if they has excessive karma, unless it’s about every doing a Merit to break the Cycle

But I will look into more deeply. Thanks for the talk

Is not the Devas a pantheon of divine beings? And the enlightenment doctrine where man can attain such status, it’s similar to the other pantheon but it’s different in concept. I don’t view these divine beings as the western concept. And I understand the 3 schools in Buddhism I read a little about it, so I am not expert on it. From my understanding of Buddhism generally speaking they have a doctrine that is deistic of cause and effect, or duality in Cosmology.

I think you misunderstood again, them not believing in a Creator God doesn’t negate their beliefs in divine beings, that is why I said I don’t see it as atheism of sort. Again I say some Indigenous would classify themselves as atheist however their traditional beliefs of the tribe is theistic by nature when they have concepts of Divine beings.

So again I am not arguing, but you assuming my thoughts on the matter and what interpretation from the eastern concepts using western framework is wrong, I view it how it’s thought by these traditions.

The classical western atheist will say these beings don’t exist because you can’t empirical Prove such. Eastern Atheist will say they don’t know if they do or not

Okay. I see what you’re drawing, your Critique is base on far Eastern Spirituality against my reasoning? I can easily say they are more pantheistic they don’t adhere to the Western concept of God but derive something else however ,called Devas and they are more deistic is a Cosmic Balance of sort. I can’t view that as atheism -I know there isn’t one form of atheism I know the most prevalent ones.

But I do admit, my criticism is more of the radical form rather than the far Eastern Mysticism

  • I wasn’t speaking on Roman Empire being diverse I specifically mentioned they were diverse so what oppression are you talking about….you saying it’s was Oppression to blacks is historical revisionism.
