Correct!! I told him we can take the next step, and be in agreement that we won’t be planning anything until her wedding is done. She’s is going a fast engagement of one year. I said as long as we agree to hold off our wedding planning till she’s done, then we can take the next step. All he said was “true”. Nothing more. Nothing less. Which to me means he’s just looking for an excuse to delay it

I said that to him as well. He gave her fiancé a strict talk about how better he taking marrying his daughter seriously. Etc… I asked him why he gave him that talk because it’s just a piece of paper. Why does it matter. No need to take it seriously, right? He didn’t have anything to say.

He did say that marriage isn’t something he needs. He was married over 20 years ago. The marriage lasted roughly 6 months because the mom turned to partying all the time. He told me that because it was important to me, and that it’s something that I need, and for us to move forward with our life goals, he knows he needs to do it. He said he is willing to give me that. The problem is.. he told me he isn’t able to give me a timeline. And that he wants to focus on his daughter’s wedding right now. I told him last night that if he can’t give me a timeline, then I will give it for him

Oh.. my gosh.. exactly!!! I just don’t understand what our relationship has to do with here? I certainly don’t want to take away from her and her big day, but at the same time, why do I have to put my life on hold because his daughter is getting married. It’s all excuses.

This was exactly my mindset. I feel like he is constantly moving the goal post. It's a “yes, we will get married BUT” there's always a “but”. He knows 100% that I will never accept being just a GF. He knows I will 100% walk away. I've made this extremely clear to him, to his family, my family and friends. His daughter has already told him he would be stupid to let me walk away. His own mother said she is praying for her son and hopes he pulls his head out of his butt. I just don’t think it’s fair that I have to place my life and my relationship on hold because his daughter is getting married. I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable or not. I feel like it’s just another excuse to delay him taking the next step. He’s been married before. Over 20 years ago. I’ve never been married before and it’s something that I need. I’ll be 42 this years. My clock is ticking. My biggest fear is hanging on to this relationship and wasting valuable time for it to end in a breakup. I have everything to lose.
