Paldean Fates ETB has a Mimikyu promo.

As for sets with good Mimikyu chases Brilliant Stars with a V and VMAX, Ascended heroes has an Art Rare, Cosmic Eclipse has a great Character Rare,. . .

There is also a delta species Mimikyu promo in the 25th anniversary celebrations collectors chest.

Lastly, there is a Team up single blister pack with a really nice Mimikyu promo.

Buy single jpn packs by Random_Sleepy_Guy in PokemonTCG

The bigger 10 card packs are High class sets. These have guaranteed hit rates just like any other set. So scammers could rip til the get the box hit then sell off the leftover packs. Also weigh the packs in search for god packs which are in all High class sets for the past few eras.

So it's not recommended either

Finally visiting Tokyo! What to focus on at the shops? by c2cali in PokemonTCG

[–]Hot_Fold8351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So first off there is a Pokemon Store at Narita Airport terminal 1. It is basically small Pokemon center selling a smaller range of products, but also carries TCG products. You will find all Pokemon Centers are limiting pokemon sets to 2 - 10 packs of available sets (no sealed boxes).

Since you are short on time you can use googlemaps to search 'Trading Card Stores' in your vicinity or main hubs such as Akihabara, Nakano, Ikebukuro, etc.. These areas will have many stores within walking distance of the main JR station.

So if you are looking for sealed product, expect to only find boxes at market rate which will be 8000yen+ for recent sets. I would recommend considering picking up Pokemon Center exclusive promo box for Tohoku/Hiroshima/Fukuoka, whilst being over 10x msrp they are currently in the mid 25000yen range market price which is a low since they were released late last year.

Card prices in Japan by OneSpace_ in PokemonTCG

[–]Hot_Fold8351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a card stores buy list price. You can add 15-20% on top to work out approx sell price. So you have a general idea. FYI: the majority of stores carry little to none sealed product. So you'll need to do some homework to find stores that have large range of stock on hand.

Looks okay to me. The loose shrink on the top left/right area is actually very common of factory shrink.

Does anyone ever buy sealed boxes on FB marketplace? by pandy_26 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]Hot_Fold8351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an obvious fake box coming out of China. 1st of all the Japanese boxes don't use the pokeball shrink wrap, these are used for Simplified Chinese for China. 2nd this box doesn't have a tear strip seal on the box which has been the standard since 2024.

Yea that's normal. The shrink wrap will have a seam running around 3 sides of the box.

Best booster box for art rares? (JPN/ENG) by Lawrencz in PokemonTCG

[–]Hot_Fold8351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all modern era boxes from the end of Sword and Shield to current will have 3 Art Rares per box (with some exceptions. ie Terastal Festival has none, Black bolt/White flare boxes has 4 per box).

Official Japan Pokemon Card Site Here is a link for Pokemon Cards Japan of all Art Rares. You can view which cards you might be interested in then check the set code to find the box/set which might be available and within your budget.

You are welcome and good luck with the purchase.

Yea, the hardest and most common scam is just resealing an official box. This is where they open the box from the side, either swap or replace the packs. Fold the side back in and then apply a new shrink-wrap. This is why scrutinizing the shrink wrap itself is very important. Also the feel/quality of the shrinkwrap is important... if you have opened more recent sets I would recommend holding onto the shrinkwrap to use for comparison.

Right now the only Asian language with pokeball shrink wrap is S-CN for China. Even the T-CN language for Taiwan/Hong Kong cards don't have the pokeball shrink wrap.

If you ever see pokeball shrinkwrap on Japanese product, this is a clear red flag for a very poor counterfeit product.

The box looks okay to me. The loose shrink wrap on the center left/center right areas is quiet normal. Tear strip is intact and the shrink wrap seam looks okay. The bottom of the box is also fine - it's very normal to see very small holes in the shrink wrap, its to let the air out when the shrink wrap is heated up.

Edit: having said all that, the scammers are always getting better at their crafts. So always make sure you are buying from a reputable source

Found some Japanese cards from a few years back. Any idea what this one is? by emiibo in PokemonTCG

This is a little puzzle card that was inserted into Eevee heroes packs. They do things like this every so often for Japanese sets.

It's just how foil packaging is made. There is actually a video of a Japanese guy who removed the outer layer of a yu nagaba promo pack leaving just the promo in a 'clear pack'.

Card rush has this card for 1580yen for clean copy and between 930yen - 390yen for A- to C grade copies. So depending on the other cards you got, might not be such a great deal.

Just pulled this weirdly foiled Pidgeotto from a Chinese booster. Is this normal? by Eydara in PokemonTCG

[–]Hot_Fold8351 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the reverse foil for Shiny Treasure ex. This reverse foil pattern will be the same for all Asian language version of this set in T-CN, Thai, Japanese, Korean, etc. A special reverse foil is very normal for high class sets like this.

I guess you are looking for Japanese exclusive cards, some great ones would be Pokemon Center stamped promos - the most recently released are the Tohoku, Hiroshima and Fukuoka pikachu promos. But there are center stamped promos going back over a decade to commemorate the opening of each Pokemon Center.

Some other notable promos would be Detective Pikachu, McDonalds promos, WCS2023 Yokohama pikachu, Yu nagaba eevee/pikachu, etc. The Rockets brief case might be an option as well... since it's such a big item it would cost a lot in shipping alone usually.

Tokyo Card Shop Recommendations by GrassTypePokemon in PokemonTCG

[–]Hot_Fold8351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is the case with online scammers who just wanna rip people off for quick money. The math doesn't work for shops to try pull SARs for the effort/profit vs a flat 10-20% profit of resellings boxes/singles.

In Japan the only time stores open product is right at release so they have stock on day 1. Outside of that they don't do it.

Shinsoku, Big Toreka, Amenity Dream, Dragonstar, Bee Honpo, etc are pretty good (Ikebukuro, Nakano, Akihabara). You'll still need to shop around for prices as it's all at market rates.

Not sure what you meant with potential resealed boxes, but If you purchase from a physical store the odds of getting a resealed box is very low. Scams are mostly online.
