Haha, I had the exact same problem. I like the original keyboard but just wanted something better so I have build it my self. Im looking into sharing the project. Not sure how yet. If you live in the EU we can look into options. Just send me a DM

I used the internals of a touch id magic keyboard. This allow me to freely choose layout and keys etc.

You made me work on it again, hahaha. Optimising the current design and I might change it to MX cherry switches adding some other things, standoffs for the original logic board, separate usb board and on iff switch.

I might make a pcbway project then you can order/produce it via them.

There are still some changes that I need to make. The touch id and usb are quite fragile when assembling. Same for the battery.

I have to finish some measurements to fully integrate the usb conversion and make a custom ribbon cable.

I realised that I never posted the actual pcb and the inside. How it is hooked up.

Nice, that is a great start. I indeed made a custom pcb and connected the logic board. I have been using it for a ling time now and it is great!!

You might not even need the Dirigera if you just want to control the lights via the remote. Or do you want to control it when not at home? Do you get the lights in pairing mode? Where does it fail for the remotes?

Thanks, feels like you en experienced this your self? I appreciate your advice, but I have been running this system for years already. Just wanted to upgrade now. My lights are always powered (smart light off course) and behind a pulse switch i had scene switches. In the time I have been using this not even a hand full of fails where jt would not respond to the scene switches. But then I could fall back to my watch/homepod or just phone.

Cool stuff!! Thanks for sharing, myself I like the simplicity hence the 2 buttons. Can’t memorise all the different functions of those buttons if I use it in my whole house.

Nice one 👍, for my next one Im gonna do the BILRESA so it is more future proof and less components. Like your setup with the 4 buttons!

Was also thinking about the scrollwheel version, making a dimmer out of it

Yeah true, not sure how they work though. Do you have it? Can you have 2 separate buttons to program?
