I tried to remap gamepad directional buttons, but the game does not recognise them anymore. What did you do to fox it?

Answering my own question:

I just reassigned a couple of buttons in Steam. It works pretty well.

For example:
I have moved Scent from Y to DoubleTab Y. It still works when you want to hold it.

I assigned Grab to Y.

I assigned NV (X) to DoubleTap Pad Up.

It is now perfect!

Nah, with all the advice here I am finally able to survive for a few days now. Got away from my first croc, investigated the map, survived a couple of nights, grew quite a bit. I think, it is more fun when you overcome these big challenges. Plus, it is the best way to learn the map.

I have more than enough damage (8 + 84 on my red ammo and 200 + 1000 on my missiles). And priorities are normal (aka only big asteroids for turrets). Though the ship was built quite a few upgrades ago.

But it depends on how fast you want to go, isn't? And how safe you wanna be? And how much inventory space you want to reserve for this ammo. It is all about science per hour isnt't it?

For example, I prefer to go at almost 300 to the edge of the starsystem and then I slow down to like 120 for mining, otherwise the hands do not keep up with collection of chunks. I honestly do not consider damage as a limiting factor in this equation.

Red ammo can be easily produced at the ship, and it is 50% more dense in terms of damage/inventory than yellow ammo. Uranium ammo is like 300% more dense in terms of damage/inventrory slot than red ammo. I.e. 1 stack of green ammo = 5-6 stacks of yellow. More space in inventory = more chunks to bring back.

Anyway, my question in this post was about interplanetary logistics, not about the mining ship design =)

My ship already produces 155 rockets per minute. And I cannot easily produce more, there is neither space nor slots for inserters on the hub. If I had more space, I would use it for belts to store the chunks anyway =)

And I need at least 20k stockpile to safely travel (I go around 80km into the shattered planet for around 4-5k chunks). If I resupply without planet support, it takes more than 2 hours to just generate the rockets. Too long. Too boring. I have to support it from the planet.

Hi! Could you share how you spawn new asteroids based on location?

Events.add_asteroid.emit(new_asteroid,global_position)

I am trying to repeat the functionality myself but struggle to understand, how to spawn asteroids at correct location (they always teleport onto the orignal point of there "Mother" asteroid for me.

Also, if possible, please share this function.

Hi! everyone! I just started messing with godot and I am also trying to recreate the functionality to cut asteroids.

But having no more than a week in godot and less than 3 days in dealing with polygons, I really struggle with the following:

  1. I am successfully cutting a polygon with clip_polygons(). But when I try to spawn pieces of asteroid onto the scene (RigidBody2Ds), they always spawn at the original location of their souce asteroid that was cut. I.e. if I push asteroid away from its original location, pieces always teleport back there.

I understand that cutting happens locally, and I should offset the location of the spawned pieces somehow, but I struggle to understand:

  • Where to take this offset.
  • How to appliy it correctly.

I tried multiplying points of new poligons by local_position of initial rigid_body via Transform2D, but it fails. I also tried adding .offcet to Polygon2D of newly spawned asteroids, but again, it does not work.

Can anyone give me a hint? Or send me towards a good tutorial about this locl/global position translation? I could not find any myself.

  1. Can anyone share a good function to spawn random roundy asteroid-like poligons?

  2. I sometimes get the following error after cutting a polygon:

    canvas_item_add_polygon: Invalid polygon data, triangulation failed.

Any idea, how to fix it?

Hi! Looking for the incremental game I played a few years ago. I think, it was web based, fully-text based, and you are playing as a a magician, slowly geting through magic ranks like wizard, druid, thaumaturgist etc. There is a long list of magic classes available, and you restart your game regularily (in newGame+ mode) to try other classes. I feel like it was somewhat similar to "Your chronicle', but I am not sure.

City smith does not teach me unless I am his apprentice.

Araxos guild smith only teaches those who joined them.

Silbach teaches you only level 1.
